چکیده

A new CMOS current-mode pseudo-exponential circuit based on the superior-order Taylor series expansion will be presented. The advantage of the circuit with respect to the previous reported similar ones is the smaller value of the limited expansion error obtained by using a superior-order approximation of the exponential function. Because of the circuit modularity and of the small silicon area consumption, the total error could be very easily reduced by increasing the number of terms from the previous expansion. The circuit presents the important advantage of the independence of the output current on technological parameters. The frequency response is improved due to the strong inversion operation of all MOS transistors and to the current-mode operation of the circuit. In order to evaluate the total error of the circuit core, the second-order effects will be taken into account, resulting an additional error summed to the error caused by the neglecting of the superior-order terms from the exponential function Taylor series expansion. The circuit area is relatively small due to the exclusively utilization of MOS transistors (all resistors have been removed from the circuit). The SPICE simulation of the squarer behavior confirms the theoretical estimated results.

The mixed-signal circuits with both analog and digital blocks on a single chip have wide applications in communication and RF circuits. Integrating these two blocks can cause serious problems especially in applications requiring fast digital circuits and high performance analog blocks. Fast switching in digital blocks generates a noise which can be introduced to analog circuits by the common su...

C-language function class for signal processing at ADC testing

Testing of ADC’s differential nonlinearity DNL(k) by the histogram method requires the signal generator with extremely low distortion and high stability of the parameters. Besides this condition generator must be connected to the input of the ADC under test with high suppression of the interfering noise on ground line of instruments. The new type of testing signal has been proposed of the expon...

Static Characterization of Arbitrary Waveform Generator based on Modified Multi- sine Fitting and Zero Crossing Detection Algorithms

The static characterization of the output section of the Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) requires that its output signal must be digitalized by Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) with higher linearity and resolution than the device under test. In the literature, the problem of high resolution acquisition is translated to the simpler problem of low resolution and high sampling frequency acquis...

DOA Parameter Estimation with 1-bit Quantization Bounds, Methods and the Exponential Replacement

Abstract—While 1-bit analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) allows to significantly reduce the analog complexity of wireless receive systems, using the exact likelihood function of the hardlimiting system model in order to obtain efficient algorithms in the digital domain can make 1-bit signal processing challenging. If the signal model before the quantizer consists of correlated Gaussian random va...
