CELL publishes advertisements for positions available and for announcements of courses, conferences, and symposia. The 1996 rates are $450 for a quarter page, $725 for a half page, and $1 150 for a full page, We will accept camera-ready materials by mail, or copy to be typeset by mail or fax. If you choose to have your ad typeset by CELL, the size of the ad will be determined by the number of words. Quarter-page ads contain up to 130 words, half-page ads contain 13 I-240 words, and full-page ads contain 24 I-500 words. Camera-ready ads must be surrounded by a line border in one of the following dimensions: quarter-page-3 " by 4 112 " ; half-page-6 112 " by 4 112 " (horizontal), 3 " by 9 114 " (vertical); full-page-6 112 " by 9 l/4 ". Ads must include a cover letter with the name of thejournal and date on which your ad is to appear, a billing address, a purchase order number, and the name, address, and phone and fax numbers of the contact person. All foreign advertisers must send prepayment with their advertising materials. Applicants are invited to apply for a continuing system appointment to head a newly funded transgenic core facility in the Physiology Department at Michigan State University. The successful candidate will supervise the construction of transgenic animals, i.e., mice, and oversee a staff in the production and maintenance of transgenic animals. The goal ofthisfacility is to provide transgenicanimals for use by investigators both within the Physiology Department and in other university departments. In addition, the candidate will be expected to be actively involved in research and participate in departmental teaching programs. Requirements include a Ph.D. or equivalent, two years or more postdoctoral training, and significant experience in the generation of transgenic animals. Interested individuals should provide a complete curriculum vitae, a brief statement of research interests, experience in construction of transgenic animals, bibliography and copies of key publications or reprints. Applic,ants should submit the names of at least three (3) scientists who can evaluate their accomplishments and future potential for research and teaching.
