چکیده

This paper reports algorithms for computing the log-polar transform (LPT) of a digital image using optimal parameters for use in an active vision system. The LPT is a space-variant mapping similar in form to the human retina, with a central high-resolution fovea and a periphery of radially decreasing resolution. In the past, only cursory attention has been given to the selection of transform parameters. This is likely because the exact values of the parameters are of little significance when the images are defined on the Euclidean plane. However, in the practical transformation of digital images, the parameters have a much greater significance. For example, a correct choice will assure that the fovea can cover all the pixels in the input image that are mapped to one pixel at the extreme periphery of the output. Then any pixel-sized feature in the periphery can be imaged at full resolution with a single camera motion. The paper reports the derivation of the optimal parameters, gives practical algorithms for computing the log-polar transform of a digital image and demonstrates how non-optimal parameters affect the transformation.

Visual Tracking using Kernel Projected Measurement and Log-Polar Transformation

Visual Servoing is generally contained of control and feature tracking. Study of previous methods shows that no attempt has been made to optimize these two parts together. In kernel based visual servoing method, the main objective is to combine and optimize these two parts together and to make an entire control loop. This main target is accomplished by using Lyapanov theory. A Lyapanov candidat...

Symbolic computation of the Duggal transform

Following the results of cite{Med}, regarding the Aluthge transform of polynomial matrices, the symbolic computation of the Duggal transform of a polynomial matrix $A$ is developed in this paper, using the polar decomposition and the singular value decomposition of $A$. Thereat, the polynomial singular value decomposition method is utilized, which is an iterative algorithm with numerical charac...

Robust hashing for image authentication using quaternion discrete Fourier transform and log-polar transform

In this work, a novel robust image hashing scheme for image authentication is proposed based on the combination of the quaternion discrete Fourier transform (QDFT) with the log-polar transform. QDFT offers a sound way to jointly deal with the three channels of color images. The key features of the present method rely on (i) the computation of a secondary image using a log-polar transform; and (...

Computation of 3-D-Motion Parameters Using the Log-Polar Transform

Ariicial vision systems for mobile robots necessitate sensors and representations that enable a real-time reactive behavior. The log-polar transform has been shown to be a variable resolution scheme that achieves a high compression of the non-foveal part of an image. Such space variant sensors must inevitably be active in order to utilize the high-and homogeneous resolution fovea. We study here...

A Spread Spectrum Zero Video Watermarking Scheme based on Dual Transform Domains and Log-Polar Transformation

This paper proposes a zero-video watermark scheme based on 2D-DWT and pseudo 3D-DCT, otherwise Singular Value Decomposition and log-polar transform are applied. The method makes no changes to original images while embedding the owner information of images so as to achieve high transparency. The log-polar transform ensures that the method is robust to rotation operations. In order to achieve the...
