New silicone tipped cannulas for subretinal fluid drainage.

چکیده
Two new disposable cannulas for internal drainage of subretinal fluid are described in this article. We describe a curved and a straight version consisting of plastic hubs, 20 gauge proximal and 25 gauge distal stainless steel hypodermic tubing, and soft and flexible silicone tubing overmounts. Both these cannulas facilitate atraumatic drainage of subretinal fluid through pre-existing retinal holes and tears or through a retinotomy performed during vitreoretinal microsurgery.

Two Cases of Accidental Dislocation of the Silicone Sleeve of an Extrusion Cannula into the Vitreous Cavity
BACKGROUND Fluid-air exchange during vitreoretinal surgery is often used as a tool for subretinal fluid endodrainage. Soft-tipped flexible extrusion cannulas are commonly used to aspirate the posterior subretinal fluid. METHODS This is an observational two-case series describing two patients who underwent 20-G pars plana vitrectomy complicated by the accidental fall of the silicone sleeve of ...

PURPOSE To report 5 cases of advanced Coats' disease managed with pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil tamponade. METHODS Five patients with advanced Coats' disease and serous or tractional retinal detachment underwent pars plana vitrectomy with internal drainage, endolaser photocoagulation and silicone oil tamponade. One patient had combined phacoemulsification-vitrectomy surgery. Of the 5...
متن کاملThe use of continuous silicone oil infusion as a peroperative tool to facilitate break localisation, vitreous base dissection and drainage of subretinal fluid.
INTRODUCTION We introduce the use of low-molecular-weight silicone oil as an infusion and as a peroperative tool to facilitate three specific surgical steps, namely internal search for retinal breaks, vitreous base shaving and drainage of subretinal fluid. METHOD AND PATIENTS Ethics committee approval was obtained to test this novel agent in a small number of cases as a pilot study. Following...
