چکیده

During a study of organic acid formation by pure cultures of fungi isolated from soil, one fungus was discovered to produce, under the conditions employed, substantial amounts of an uncommon organic acid. This acid was present in the culture filtrates and was formed from glucose or from ethanol as the sole source of carbon. Apart from cell material and C02, the acid was the predominant metabolic product. This paper describes the isolation and identification of the acid as trans-L-epoxysuccinic acid. It has the following structure:

Studies on the Biosynthesis of Phenols in Fungi PRODUCTION OF 4-METHOXYTOLUQUINOL, EPOXYSUCCINIC ACID AND A DIACETYLENIC ALCOHOL BY SURFACE CULTURES OF LENTINUS DEGENER

1. 4-Methoxytoluquinol was secreted into the medium by surface cultures of the basidiomycete Lentinu8 degener Kalchbr. (approx. 100mg./l. of medium). In addition, epoxysuccinic acid (150-200mg.) and a long-chain diacetylenic alcohol (3mg.) were also secreted. Epoxysuccinic acid has previously been found in the culture medium of some Fungi Imperfecti. These metabolites were all synthesized durin...

The Conversion Kinetics of Tincal to Boric Acid in Nitric Acid Solutions

Pure borax and various boron compounds are produced from the solutions in which tincal is dissolved with various reagents. Economically important boron compounds such as boric acid, borax, boric oxide, and refined hydrated sodium borates and perborates are produced from boron-containing ores. The production of boric acid by using nitric acid from tincal is more advantageous because it evalu...

trans-Cinnamic and Chlorogenic Acids Affect the Secondary Metabolic Profiles and Ergosterol Biosynthesis by Fusarium culmorum and F. graminearum Sensu Stricto

Plant-derived compounds limiting mycotoxin contamination are currently of major interest in food and feed production. However, their potential application requires an evaluation of their effects on fungal secondary metabolism and membrane effects. In this study, different strains of Fusarium culmorum and F. graminearum sensu stricto were exposed to trans-cinnamic and chlorogenic acids on solid ...
