A novel iliotibial band and gluteus maximus tenodesis for the treatment of external coxa saltas in a patient with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

چکیده
INTRODUCTION We report a unique surgical treatment for external coxa saltans refractory to previous open and endoscopic management in a patient with Ehlers–Danlos syndrome. After failure of two endoscopic iliotibial band (ITB) lengthenings and one open gluteus maximus (GMax) lengthening, a novel procedure was conducted, which involved release of the GMax insertion and tenodesis of the anterior and posterior portions of the ITB to prevent pathologic translation over the trochanter.

Endoscopic treatment of the external snapping hip syndrome: surgical technique and report of two cases.
Snapping hip or coxa saltans is a condition characterized by an audible and/or palpable snapping during hip movement and can be associated with pain around the hip. There are various causes of this condition and can be divided into two types: extra-articular and intra-articular. The most common type is the external extra-articular, where the snapping is due to thickened posterior part of the il...

Disorders of the lateral or peritrochanteric space (often grouped into the greater trochanteric pain syndrome), such as recalcitrant trochanteric bursitis, external snapping iliotibial band, and gluteus medius and minimus tears, are now being treated endoscopically. We outline the endoscopic anatomy of the peritrochanteric space of the hip and describe surgical techniques for the treatment of t...

متن کاملCoxa Saltans: The Snapping Hip Revisited.
Coxa saltans, or "snapping hip," has several causes. These can be divided into three types: external, internal, and intra-articular. Snapping of the external type occurs when a thickened area of the posterior iliotibial band or the leading anterior edge of the gluteus maximus snaps forward over the greater trochanter with flexion of the hip. The internal type has a similar mechanism except that...
