چکیده

The present study investigates the epicyclic pitching and yawing motion phenomenon of spinning symmetric projectiles applying the 6-DOF free flight dynamic simulation modelling for small-yaw flat-fire trajectories. The computational results are compared with the corresponding classical second order linear differential solution. The ammunition will be used is the .50 API M8 bullet tfiring from M2 machine gun launched horizontally from different firing angles on high-speed subsonic aircraft (helicopter). This analysis includes mean constant coefficients of the most significant aerodynamic forces, moments and Magnus effects, which have been taken from official tabulated database.

Effect of Increase in Starting Pressure on Efficiency and Velocity of Caliber 0.30 Weapons

' The effect of increasing the initial pressure is studied theoretically. No improvement in muzzle velocity of a caliber 0.30 gun is found. Under some circumstances, the efficiency may be improved, but only at the expense of muzzle velocity. 1. AUTHORITY; This study was authorized by letter 0.0. 471/1464. 2» OBJECT; The object of the present report is to determine the theoretical effect on muzz...

Minimal velocities necessary for perforation of skin by air gun pellets and bullets.

A series of tests were conducted to determine the velocities necessary for lead air gun pellets (calibers .177 and .22) and caliber .38 lead bullets to perforate skin. Human lower extremities were used. Caliber .177 air gun pellets weighing 8.25 grains required a minimum velocity of 101 m/s (331 ft/s) to perforate skin. The energy per area of presentation ratio E/a was 1:86 m X kg/cm2. Caliber ...

Comparison of Gunshot Entrance Morphologies Caused by .40-Caliber Smith & Wesson, .380-Caliber, and 9-mm Luger Bullets: A Finite Element Analysis Study

Firearms can cause fatal wounds, which can be identified by traces on or around the body. However, there are cases where neither the bullet nor gun is found at the crime scene. Ballistic research involving finite element models can reproduce computational biomechanical conditions, without compromising bioethics, as they involve no direct tests on animals or humans. This study aims to compare th...

Low velocity gunshot wounds result in significant contamination regardless of ballistic characteristics.

Controversy exists among the orthopedic community regarding the treatment of gunshot injuries. No consistent treatment algorithm exists for treatment of low energy gunshot wound (GSW) trauma. The purpose of this study was to critically examine the wound contamination following low velocity GSW based upon bullet caliber and clothing fiber type found within the injury track. Four types of handgun...

استخراج ضرایب نرخ سوزش پیشرانه تفنگی بر اساس داده های تست محفظه بسته

When dealing with research and development of gun propellants, a less expensive, quicker and safer process of closed vessel evaluation adopted rather than gun firing. In the current research work a computer program (BRCBADR) has been developed for the burning rate reduction from closed vessel test data. Correct determination of thermo-chemical properties of propellants provides accurate results...
