چکیده

This paper proposes a channel scheduler in downlink of IEEE 802.16e TDD-OFDMA cellular network which provides users the minimum throughput for best effort traffic. The proposed scheduler is further developed in the consideration of the case that network might become unfeasible, where extra weight functions are introduced into the proportional fair (PF) scheduler so that the proposed extra weight function provides more resources to users who are easier to achieve the target throughput than those who cannot. It does not guarantee target throughput for all users but eventually increases the number of users being served with the guaranteed minimum throughput. It is investigated for the proposed schedulers and other conventional ones how large the throughput is and how many users are guaranteed the target throughput. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms have 10 to 20 % more users being served with the minimum guaranteed throughput. The trade-off between the throughput guarantee level and sector throughput is shown in the proposed schedulers.

Downlink Scheduling and Resource Management for Best Effort Service in TDD-OFDMA Cellular Networks

Throughput performance and geographical service fairness of best effort service used for downlink of a 802.16e based TDD-OFDMA sectored cellular networks are evaluated in conjunction with different scheduling schemes and frequency reuse plans. The OFDM systems are based on two multiple access schemes, which are the OFDM-TDM and OFDMA, and considered scheduling schemes are round robin, max C/I, ...

A QoS-Controlled Scheduling Algorithm for Mixed Services in the Downlink of OFDMA Systems

In this paper, we consider a downlink packet scheduling algorithm in OFDMA systems for mixed traffics, such as real-time (RT) and non-real-time (NRT) services. The scheduling algorithm we proposed bases on the Utility Function and the Barrier Function, taking into account the Head-Of-Line (HOL) packet delay and Packet Drop Ratio (PDR) for video streaming. Simulation results show that our new al...

Channel adaptive fair scheduling for CDMA/TDD downlink packet communications

In this paper we carry out a comparative study of different dynamic greedy frame-by-frame packet scheduling strategies with QoS guarantees. The considered environment is the downlink of a locally centralized (or bunched) CDMA/TDD wireless communication system. In particular, in order to address the trade-off between throughput and fairness, we first analyze the system performance using system-l...

Asymmetric Radio Resource Assignment Scheme for Connection-less Services in CDMA/Shared-TDD Cellular Packet Communications

The shared time division multiplexing (shared-TDD) scheme has been proposed to accommodate asymmetric communications between uplink and downlink. The accommodation of connection-less services in Shared-TDD systems causes a difficulty of TDD boundary control. This paper proposes a TDD boundary control (resource assignment) scheme, which can optimize a position of the TDD boundary based on the ra...

Sub-channel Based Uplink OFDMA Random Access Scheme Considering Hidden Nodes in the Next Generation Wireless LAN

In this paper, a novel sub-channel based uplink Orthogonal Frequency Domain Multiple Access (OFDMA) random access scheme is proposed. In the next generation Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), OFDMA was adopted in order to enhance throughput performance. OFDMA can be used for both downlink and uplink. In order to utilize OFDMA for uplink, AP needs to schedule stations’ packet transmission. In o...
