چکیده

An additive hereditary graph property is a set of graphs, closed under isomorphism and under taking subgraphs and disjoint unions. Let P1, . . . ,Pn be additive hereditary graph properties. A graph G has property (P1 ◦ · · · ◦Pn) if there is a partition (V1, . . . , Vn) of V (G) into n sets such that, for all i, the induced subgraph G[Vi] is in Pi. A property P is reducible if there are properties Q, R such that P = Q ◦R; otherwise it is irreducible. Mihók, Semanǐsin and Vasky [J. Graph Theory 33 (2000), 44–53] gave a factorisation for any additive hereditary property P into a given number dc(P) of irreducible additive hereditary factors. Mihók [Discuss. Math. Graph Theory 20 (2000), 143–153] gave a similar factorisation for properties that are additive and induced-hereditary (closed under taking induced-subgraphs and ∗The first author’s studies in Canada are fully funded by the Canadian government through a Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship. Prime ideals in the lattice of additive induced-hereditary graph properties

An additive induced-hereditary property of graphs is any class of finite simple graphs which is closed under isomorphisms, disjoint unions and induced subgraphs. The set of all additive induced-hereditary properties of graphs, partially ordered by set inclusion, forms a completely distributive lattice. We introduce the notion of the join-decomposability number of a property and then we prove th...

Unique factorization theorem for object-systems

The concept of an object-system is a common generalization of simple graph, digraph and hypergraph. In the theory of generalised colourings of graphs, the Unique Factorization Theorem (UFT) for additive induced-hereditary properties of graphs provides an analogy of the well-known Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetics. The purpose of this paper is to present UFT for object-systems. This result gene...

Minimal forbidden subgraphs of reducible graph properties

A property of graphs is any class of graphs closed under isomorphism. Let P1,P2, . . . ,Pn be properties of graphs. A graph G is (P1,P2, . . . ,Pn)-partitionable if the vertex set V (G) can be partitioned into n sets, {V1, V2, . . . , Vn}, such that for each i = 1, 2, . . . , n, the graph G[Vi] ∈ Pi. We write P1◦P2◦ · · · ◦Pn for the property of all graphs which have a (P1,P2, . . . ,Pn)-partit...

Unique Factorization Theorem and Formal Concept Analysis

In the theory of generalised colourings of graphs, the Unique Factorization Theorem (UFT) for additive induced-hereditary properties of graphs provides an analogy of the well-known Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetics. The purpose of this paper is to present a new, less complicated, proof of this theorem that is based on Formal Concept Analysis. The method of the proof can be successfully applied...

Unique factorization theorem

A property of graphs is any class of graphs closed under isomorphism. A property of graphs is induced-hereditary and additive if it is closed under taking induced subgraphs and disjoint unions of graphs, respectively. Let P1,P2, . . . ,Pn be properties of graphs. A graph G is (P1,P2, . . . ,Pn)-partitionable (G has property P1◦P2◦ · · · ◦Pn) if the vertex set V (G) of G can be partitioned into ...
