Effect of EDFA based Various Optical Amplifier Configurations on IsOWC System

This paper discusses the effect of various optical amplifier configurations i.e. pre-amplifier, power booster and using both of them on simplex and 8 channel WDM inter-satellite free space optical communication system by using NRZ-OOK in LEO networks under scintillation effect. We observed high quality factor at channel wavelength of 1550 nm using Mach-Zehnder Modulator (MZM). The simulated results show best results for amplifier configuration where both the amplifier stages are used. By employing 23 dBm of input laser power, 50 Gbps of data rate can be achieved covering a distance of 7000 km with an absolute quality factor of 28.086. Furthermore, a Q-factor of 12 can be attained at each channel by incorporating 8 channel WDM into IsOWC system covering a distance of 5000 km.
