The Institute is commissioned by the Swedish government to carry on research and development, disseminate information, and hold advanced, specialised training courses. The institute's prime objective and mission is to contribute actively to a working life that offers good conditions and development opportunities for women and men. We work to promote a healthy working environment that is adapted to people's different physical and mental needs and capacity. This we do in collaboration with the social partners and professionals who are actively involved in issues concerning working life. Our research focuses on areas such as occupational health, the labour market and employment, labour legislation, work organisation , ergonomics and strain, physical and chemical health risks, integration and diversity, and development processes in working life. We endeavour to ensure that our research is multidisciplinary and bene-fi ts people in their working lives. Please visit www.arbetslivsinstitutet.se for more information. Here you can read about current research, subscribe to our newsletters, borrow books and other literature from our library, order books or download reports. You will also fi nd the addresses to our offi ces and e-mail links to our 400 staff. Since 2002, the production ergonomics research team at the Institute for Working Life, in close collaboration with Volvo Powertrain in Skövde and Chalmers University of Technology, has investigated the opportunities for creating industrial workplaces that are both effective and healthy. This project, which is funded by Vinnova, has resulted in a series of research reports as well as a doctoral thesis. – see reference list on page 11.

Background and Objectives: Considering that musculoskeletal disorders and occupational stress are one of the most important reasons for disability, physical and mental problems in the staff, the study of their causes is of great importance. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the relationship between ergonomic risk level and job stress in employees of a food production plant. M...
متن کاملCombining economic and social goals in the design of production systems by using ergonomics standards
In designing of production systems, economic and social goals can be combined, if ergonomics is integrated into the design process. More than 50 years of ergonomics research and practice have resulted in a large number of ergonomics standards for designing physical and organizational work environments. This paper gives an overview of the 174 international ISO and European CEN standards in this ...
متن کاملCognitive ergonomics and production information systems under the gaze of interdisciplinary design or industrial design.
The core of this work involves the study of cognitive ergonomics and production of Information Systems under the interdisciplinary of the Design or Industrial Design. It is assumed that in the dynamics of human and the systems, mediated by systematic technology, there are constant changes in social perceptions, that alter the shape of the subject dealing with the real world, concrete, adopting ...
متن کاملOrganisational Design and the (dis)Integration of Human Factors in Production System Development
This paper describes and generalises experiences from two cases of production system development in the Swedish context. We have observed the successful application of ergonomics to be related to the lack of coordination of human factors across groups responsible for different stages of the production system design process. This problem is magnified by the tendency for ‘ergonomics’ to be the re...
