Poster Abstract: A Case for Magneto-Inductive Indoor Localization

چکیده
In this work, we show that the magneto-inductive (MI) indoor localization using tri-axial coils possesses unique advantages over the RF-based techniques. The spatial distribution of a generated magnetic field strength can be easily predicted using simple linear models. In addition, the field strength is very stable over time, even in the presence of moving people, which makes MI localization a promising indoor positioning technology.

Contest Abstract: IMU-Aided Magneto-Inductive Localization
In this work, we propose an infrastructure-based indoor localization system that exploits the predictable spatiotemporal features of a local magnetic field. The system also relies on inertial data in order to map the environment and track the user’s location. Additionally, WiFi access points may be used to improve the performance.

In this paper, we propose Social-Loc, which uniquely utilizes social interactions in addition to common on-board sensors such as accelerometer and gyroscope on modern smartphones, to localize indoor mobile users. Specifically, SocialLoc takes the potential locations for individual users estimated by a novel particle filter tailored for indoor localization as input, and exploits both social enco...
متن کاملPoster Abstract: Standardized Localization Service
Individual localization services seldom satisfy the requirements for accurate, robust, punctual, and seamless location information. To enhance the provisioning, a set of challenges has to be addressed, pertaining to handover, fusion, and integration of individual localization services. In the following, we advertise the Standardized Localization Service (SLSR), a middleware architecture for ach...

Localization is a research area that, due to its overarching importance as an enabler for higher level services, has attracted a vast amount of research and commercial interest. For the most part, it can be claimed that GPS provides an unparalleled solution for outdoor tracking and navigation. However, the same cannot yet be said about positioning in GPSdenied or challenged environments, such a...
متن کاملPoster Abstract: Bayesian Localization in Wireless Networks Using Angle of Arrival
Using existing wireless communication networks as a localization infrastructure promises enormous cost and deployment savings over specific localization infrastructures. In this work we investigate a Bayesian network approach that uses a combination of radio signal strength (RSS) to distance estimation along with angle-of-arrival (AoA) information. We characterize the resulting localization acc...
