A New Retina-Like Visual Sensor Performing the Polar Transform
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes the development of an anthropomorphic visual sensor with retina-like structure to perform the polar mapping. The sensor consists of a dove prism for image rotation and a linear CCD sensor with 512 pixellline resolution, and holds approximately 45 Kbytes of image data. The retina-like sensor has variable resolution with increasing density towards the center of the visual field, and performs the polar transforming directly. The motion equation that relates the egomotion and/or the motion of the object in the scene to the optical flow is considerably simplified if the velocity is represented in a polar coordinate system, as opposed to a cartesian representation. Development of this sensor holds promise in application to high speed tracking systems, such as the eyes of navigation robots, because it has a data reduction characteristics and mapping function onto the polar plane.

Visual Tracking using Kernel Projected Measurement and Log-Polar Transformation
Visual Servoing is generally contained of control and feature tracking. Study of previous methods shows that no attempt has been made to optimize these two parts together. In kernel based visual servoing method, the main objective is to combine and optimize these two parts together and to make an entire control loop. This main target is accomplished by using Lyapanov theory. A Lyapanov candidat...

The purpose of multi-focus image fusion is gathering the essential information and the focused parts from the input multi-focus images into a single image. These multi-focus images are captured with different depths of focus of cameras. A lot of multi-focus image fusion techniques have been introduced using considering the focus measurement in the spatial domain. However, the multi-focus image ...
متن کاملOn the Advantages of Polar and Log-Polar Mapping for Direct Estimation of Time-To-Impact from Optical Flow
The estimation of time to impact is of vital importance for animals as well as for autonomous robots. The optical ow, which is the two-dimensional projection on the retinal plane of the relative, three-dimensional motion between the observer and the objects in the scene can be used to estimate the time to impact. In this paper the application of an anthropomorphic, retina-like visual sensor and...

In this paper we present a hybrid local-global path planning scheme for the problem of operating a moving agent inside an unknown environment in a collision-free manner. The path planning algorithm is based on information gathered on-line by the available on-board sensor devices. The solution minimizes the total length of the path with respect to a metric that includes actual path length along ...
