Practical Issues in Endometrial Pathology
نویسنده
چکیده
Breakdown Breakdown is a very common cause of endometrial bleeding, it is explained by continuous estrogen effect which is the origin of fibrin thrombi and because of this there is stromal condensation and epithelial metaplasia finally resulting in significant fragmentation. Because of these changes the breakdown can be confused with a stromal or and epithelial proliferation and as a good rule I would say that we should never make diagnosis of a malignant lesion in a very fragmented endometrium.

Morphology and Ultrastructure of Mouse Polarized Endometrial Epithelial Cell Monolyer in Vitro
Purpose: The objective for this study is to investigate the morphology and ultrastructure of mouse endometrial epithelial cell monolayer cultured on matrigel in dual-chambered system as an in vitro mouse endometrial epithelial cell culture model that mimics structural and functional properties of the endometrial epithelium in vivo. Materials and Methods: Mouse endometrial epithelial cells were...
متن کاملEndometrial Stromal Nodule
The endometrial stromal nodule is a benign tumor composed of differentiated endometrial stromal cells arranged as a well circumscribed nodule with smooth non-invasive margins. They are rare neoplasms, diagnosed in most instances by microscopy. Although nodules are benign in nature, hysterectomy is the treatment of choice to enable evaluation of the tumor margins which are well demarcated in...
متن کاملI-47: Doppler Ultrasound Diagnosis of Intrauterine Lesions
Background In patients with abnormal uterine bleeding, transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) is the first-line diagnostic approach to exclude endometrial pathology. If a thickened endometrium suggests endometrial pathology, sonohysterography, office hysteroscopy or dilatation and curettage are the second-line tests preferred, depending on availability and on the suspected pathology, to exclude malignan...
متن کاملEndometrial Ossification Following Repeated Spontaneous Abortions
Endometrial calcification along with ossification is an uncommon clinical entity. Most of the cases are asymptomatic or present with secondary infertility. Endometrial ossification associated with repeated abortions has been reported very infrequently. Here we report a case of endometrial calcification with ossification due to retained fetal bony tissue in a 38 year old symptomatic female havi...
متن کاملMolecular pathology of endometrial carcinoma: practical aspects from the diagnostic and therapeutic viewpoints.
This article reviews the main molecular alterations involved in endometrial carcinoma. Five molecular features (microsatellite instability, and mutations in the PTEN, k-RAS, PIK3CA and beta-catenin genes) are characteristic of endometrioid carcinomas, whereas non-endometrioid carcinomas show alterations of p53, loss of heterozygosity (LOH) on several chromosomes, as well as other molecular alte...
