Repair of minor tissue defect in fingers by transfer of free arterialized venous flaps

چکیده
Objective: Reconstruction of skin and soft tissue defects in the fingers is a huge challenge in recent years. We present a retrospective analysis of nine patients with arterialized venous flaps used to cover defects in the fingers. Methods: Nine patients with various finger tissue defects were treated using arterial venous flap from the hand. Seven patients were men and two were women with the mean age 28.3 years, of which eight had injury by machine crush, one by chain saw. Fracture and dislocation in five cases and with tendon rupture in five cases. The defects ranged from 2.5 cm × 2.5 cm to 4.5 cm × 4.5 cm. All flaps were transferred as free flaps. Results: Among the 9 patients, flaps survived in all patients with one experiencing partial epidermal necrosis. After flap transplantation, mild swelling occurred in the flaps, but began to decrease on the second week. All the patients reported a normal use of their finger activities in daily living and work. Except the scar, no donor-site morbidity was reported. Conclusion: The arterialized venous flap has good function with low donor site morbidity. It is an excellent flap for reconstruction for finger defects with better survival rate.

Repair of Minor Tissue Defect in Hand by Transfer of Free Tissue Flap from the Toe
Background: To introduce our experience of using the free neurovascular flap from great and second toe. Methods: Thirteen patients (fifteen fingers) sought surgical treatment for soft tissue defects of the hand at our medical institutin between March 2006 and September 2009. In two patients, fibular side skin-nail flaps of great toe were applied to cover the dorsal defect of distal thumb. I...

Venous flaps are defined as a composite flap of skin and subcutaneous veins that relies on the venous system alone for flap perfusion, that is, the primary blood supply enters and exits the flap through the venous system. [1] Unlike conventional arterial flaps, venous flaps do not sacrifice an artery of the donor site nor do they require deep dissection. This results in an easier procedure as w...
متن کاملArterialized Venous Bone Flaps: An Experimental Investigation
In arterialized venous flaps (AVFs) the venous network is used to revascularize the flap. While the feasibility of AVFs in soft tissues has been reported there is no study on osseous AVFs. In this study we aim to assess the flap survival of osseous AVFs in a pig model. Medial femoral condyle flaps were elevated in 18 pigs. Three groups were created: AVF (n = 6), conventional arterial flap (cAF,...

BACKGROUND Reconstruction of soft tissue defects in the lower third of the leg remains challenging. Anatomical constraints limit the local options available for complex defects especially lower third of leg. Local flaps based on perforator vessels are raising interest in reconstructive surgery of the limbs. We present our experience with perforator flaps for reconstruction of soft tissue def...
متن کاملReverse Peroneal Artery Flap for Large Heel and Sole Defects: A Reliable Coverage
BACKGROUND Large soft tissue defects of ankle and foot always have been challenging to reconstruct. Reverse sural flaps, free flaps have been used for this problem with variable success. Reverse peroneal artery flap is an option to use with reliability without microvascular repair. Connections of peroneal artery around talus and ankle joint are deep and reliable with anterior tibial and post...
