Multiagent systems and semantic services for very large-scale participatory design

چکیده

There are a number of important societal problems that resist conventional, i.e., centralized, solutions. The problems affect the management of our economic systems, climate, energy systems, transportation systems, telecommunication systems, and infrastructure. They are characterized as being distributed and many-faceted, with a large number of interdependent components. For example, the routes of trains and automobile traffic are designed centrally and statically by transportation engineers, rather than designed in real time by the passengers being transported. Allowing the passengers to be responsible for the transportation system constitutes a form of design that is: • Large-scale, because of the size of the system being designed and the number of designers • Spatially distributed, in terms of both the system and the designers • Temporally distributed, because the design of the system evolves over time and the designers interact with it over a long time period • Participatory, although not necessarily cooperative. There are many similar examples where design is typically done in a centralized manner, but could be done much better in a distributed manner. How can this sort of design be supported? It requires a form of consensus, semantic mediation, and intelligent distributed support. In this talk I will describe how large-scale distributed design can be done with the aid of multiagent systems that produce consensus. 978-1-4244-3535-7/09/$25.00 ©2009 IEEE

Augmented Experiment: Participatory Design with Multiagent Simulation

To test large scale socially embedded systems, this paper proposes a multiagent-based participatory design that consists of two steps; 1) participatory simulation, where scenario-guided agents and human-controlled avatars coexist in a shared virtual space and jointly perform simulations, and the extension of the participatory simulation into the 2) augmented experiment, where an experiment is p...

Society-Centered Design for Socially Embedded Multiagent Systems

To realize large-scale socially embedded multiagent systems, this paper proposes a new system design methodology towards society-centered design. We have already developed the scenario description language Q, which describes interaction protocols that link agents to society. Using the virtual space called FreeWalk, wherein agents behave under given Q scenarios, we explain each step of society-c...

Participatory technologies for designing ambient intelligence systems

To realize large-scale socially embedded ambient intelligence systems, this paper proposes a design methodology towards society-centered design. Participatory technologies and multiagent systems are essential in the new system design perspective. Multiagent systems make it possible to test and predict the behavior of socially embedded systems. We have already developed the scenario description ...

Semantic Constraint and QoS-Aware Large-Scale Web Service Composition

Service-oriented architecture facilitates the running time of interactions by using business integration on the networks. Currently, web services are considered as the best option to provide Internet services. Due to an increasing number of Web users and the complexity of users’ queries, simple and atomic services are not able to meet the needs of users; and to provide complex services, it requ...

Centralized Clustering Method To Increase Accuracy In Ontology Matching Systems

Ontology is the main infrastructure of the Semantic Web which provides facilities for integration, searching and sharing of information on the web. Development of ontologies as the basis of semantic web and their heterogeneities have led to the existence of ontology matching. By emerging large-scale ontologies in real domain, the ontology matching systems faced with some problem like memory con...
