Mal'cev Conditions Revisited
نویسندگان
چکیده
We characterize cosieves in locally presentable categories which are generated by a set of objects or are even principal. We apply our results to the category of algebraic theories where they are related to Mal’cev conditions dealt with in universal algebra.

The Embeddability of a Semigroup- Conditions Common to Mal'cev and Lambek
Two systems of conditions—due to Mal'cev and to Lambek—are known to be necessary and sufficient for a semigroup to be embeddable in a group. This paper shows by means of an example that the conditions common to the two systems are not sufficient to guarantee embeddability.
متن کامل2-Supernilpotent Mal’cev algebras
In this note we prove that a Mal'cev algebra is 2-supernilpotent ([1, 1, 1] = 0) if and only if it is polynomially equivalent to a special expanded group. This generalizes Gumm's result that a Mal'cev algebra is abelian if and only if it is polynomially equivalent to a module over a ring.
متن کاملDDH Epidemiology Revisited: Do We Need New Strategies?
Background: Although the developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is well known to pediatric orthopedists, its etiology has still remained unknown and despite dedication of a vast majority of research, the results are still inadequate and confusing. The exact incidence of DDH and its relationship with known risk factors in Iran is still unknown. Here we represent the results of one year study o...
متن کاملIranian EFL Learners’ Motivation Construction: Integrative Motivation Revisited
Although Gardner and his associates’ work was most influential in the field of L2 motivation, from the early 1990s onwards, their work has been criticized for several reasons. Some researchers claimed that integrative and instrumental orientations were no longer able to convey the complexity of the L2 motivation construct. To examine this complexity, the present study attempted to investigate t...
متن کاملA Finite Basis Theorem for Residually Finite, Congruence Meet-Semidistributive Varieties
We derive a Mal'cev condition for congruence meet-semidistributivity and then use it to prove two theorems. Theorem A: if a variety in a nite language is congruence meet-semidistributive and residually less than some nite cardinal, then it is nitely based. Theorem B: there is an algorithm which, given m < ! and a nite algebra in a nite language, determines whether the variety generated by the a...
