Assessing the Costs for Hybrid versus Regular Transit Buses
نویسندگان
چکیده
The main reasons agencies consider hybrid transit vehicles are fuel savings and reduced emissions. Hybrid electric buses offer an attractive option and have the potential to reduce operating costs for transit agencies significantly. Wayne et al. (2009) estimated that use of diesel-electric hybrid buses in 15 percent of the US transit fleet could reduce fuel consumption by 50.7 million gallons of diesel annually. However, purchase of hybrid transit buses requires a significant investment.

متن کاملBus Fleet Type and Age Replacement Optimization: A case study utilizing King County Metro fleet data
Bus fleet data have consistently shown that vehicle operating and maintenance costs increase as vehicles age. A fleet manager has to deal with the tradeoff between the lower operating and maintenance costs of newer fleets and their higher initial capital costs as well as the tradeoff between conventional and fuel efficient bus technologies. This study formulates and implements a fleet replaceme...
