چکیده

The normative relevance of the concept of exploitation is analysed in the context of subsistence economies with a general convex technology and rational optimising agents. A new, axiomatic approach is developed, which allows an explicit analysis of the core positive and normative intuitions behind the concept of exploitation. Three main new axioms, called Labour Exploitation in Subsistence Economies, Relational Exploitation, and Feasibility of Non-Exploitation, are presented and it is proved that they uniquely characterise a definition of exploitation conceptually related to the so-called “NewInterpretation” (Dumenil, 1980; Foley, 1982), which focuses on the unequal distribution of (and control over) social labour, and on individual well-being freedom and the self-realisation of men. Exploitation and Profits: A General Axiomatic Approach in Convex Economies with Heterogeneous Agents

This paper provides an innovative axiomatic analysis of the notion of exploitation as the unequal exchange of labour, focusing on the relation between exploitation and profits. General convex economies with heterogeneous agents endowed with unequal amounts of physical and human capital are considered. An axiomatic characterisation of the class of definitions that preserve the Fundamental Marxia...

Exploitation Benjamin Ferguson and Hillel

Broadly speaking, the term ‘exploitation’ can be applied to a number of different kinds of interaction. Mineral deposits, mistakes, workers, and wombs are all said to be exploited. One sense of exploitation, often applied to the extraction of resources, or capitalising on an opponent’s mistaken move in a board game, connotes mere use or advantage taking. Exploitation in this sense need not impl...

One million miles to go: taking the axiomatic road to defining exploitation

This paper analyses the Marxian theory of exploitation. A general axiomatic approach is developed which is appropriate to study the concept of exploitation what it is and how it should be captured empirically. Two properties are presented that capture some fundamental Marxian insights. It is shown that, contrary to the received view, there exists a nonempty class of definitions of exploitation ...

One of the important goals of banks as important economic enterprises of any country is to increase economic efficiency. The classical approach to data envelopment analysis models takes into account the linear valuation function for all indicators. But linear valuation in man...

A Novel Approach to Design of Truss-Beams for Natural Frequency

Here, we present a novel two-step approach for optimum design of cellular truss-beams based on desired natural frequencies. The proposed approach at- tempts to decrease the design complexities, based on the so called Axiomatic Design, before any eort to solve the physical problem itself. It also serves as a generic approach which nds its generality through dimensional analysis with its accuracy...
