چکیده

Theory is developed for the cyclotron autoresonance acceleration of electrons in a gently-focused Gaussian laser beam and a gently tapered axial magnetic field. Numerical simulation shows, for example, acceleration from 50 MeV to 178 MeV over a distance of 148 cm, using a 10.6 μm CO2 laser with a minimum spot size of 0.1 cm.

PFC / JA - 90 - 43 Induction Linac Driven Relativistic

Design and experimental results are presented from two high power microwave generation experiments utilizing a high repetition rate induction linac generated electron beam. A relativistic klystron has generated more than 100 MW microwave pulses in X-band for 50 ns without pulse shortening or breakdown. Design studies for the first cyclotron autoresonance maser (CARM) amplifier using an inductio...

A new version of an eighth-harmonic converter isanalysed, which consists of a q l l m o d e cavity and anadjacentTGl-mode cylindrical waveguide. Driven by 40MW of rf power at 11.424 GHz, a 500 kV, 60.5 ABrillouin beam is accelerated in the cavity and generatesup to 13 h4W of output power at 91.392 GHz.

Feasibility of electron cyclotron autoresonance acceleration by a short terahertz pulse.

A vacuum auto-resonance accelerator scheme for electrons, which employs terahertz radiation and currently available magnetic fields, is suggested. Based on numerical simulations, parameter values, which could make the scheme experimentally feasible, are identified and discussed.

Cyclotron Autoresonance Accelerator for Electron Beam Dry Scrubbing of Flue Gases

A self-scanning, highly-efficient electron beam source is being built for electron beam dry scrubbing (EBDS) of flue gases. The beam is to be prepared using cyclotron autoresonance acceleration (CARA), which has already experimentally demonstrated an rf efficiency above 90%. The design is based on simulation studies for a 250-kV, 25-A warm injected beam which is accelerated in a 112cm long CARA...

Rf Recovery Using Cara and Depressed Collector*

A system is being tested for recovery of rf power by conversion to DC pulsed power. The system consists of a cyclotron autoresonance accelerator (CARA) [1,2], and a single stage depressed collector (Fig. 1). A 50 kV, 5 A electron beam is injected into CARA, and up to 1 MW of S-band rf power is absorbed by the beam with efficiency exceeding 95%. The beam then passes to a single stage depressed c...
