چکیده

This paper is devoted to pricing American options using Monte Carlo and the Malliavin calculus. Unlike the majority of articles related to this topic, in this work we will not use localization fonctions to reduce the variance. Our method is based on expressing the conditional expectation E[f(St)/Ss] using the Malliavin calculus without localization. Then the variance of the estimator of E[f(St)/Ss] is reduced using closed formulas, techniques based on a conditioning and a judicious choice of the number of simulated paths. Finally, we perform the stopping times version of the dynamic programming algorithm to decrease the bias. On the one hand, we will develop the Malliavin calculus tools for exponential multi-dimensional diffusions that have deterministic and no constant coefficients. On the other hand, we will detail various nonparametric technics to reduce the variance. Moreover, we will test the numerical efficiency of our method on a heterogeneous CPU/GPU multi-core machine.

Monte Carlo methods for pricing and hedging American options in high dimension

We numerically compare some recent Monte Carlo algorithms devoted to the pricing and hedging American options in high dimension. In particular, the comparison concerns the quantization method of Barraquand-Martineau and an algorithm based on Malliavin calculus. The (pure) Malliavin calculus algorithm improves the precision of the computation of the delta but, merely for pricing purposes, is unc...

Pricing and hedging American options by Monte Carlo methods using a Malliavin calculus approach

Following the pioneering papers of Fournié, Lasry, Lebouchoux, Lions and Touzi, an important work concerning the applications of the Malliavin calculus in numerical methods for mathematical finance has come after. One is concerned with two problems: computation of a large number of conditional expectations on one hand and computation of Greeks (sensitivities) on the other hand. A significant te...

Applications of Malliavin calculus to Monte-Carlo methods in finance. II

This paper is the sequel of Part I [1], where we showed how to use the so-called Malliavin calculus in order to devise efficient Monte-Carlo (numerical) methods for Finance. First, we return to the formulas developed in [1] concerning the “greeks” used in European options, and we answer to the question of optimal weight functional in the sense of minimal variance. Then, we investigate the use o...

Monte Carlo estimation of a joint density using Malliavin Calculus, and application to American options

We use the Malliavin integration by parts formula in order to provide a family of representations of the joint density (which does not involve Dirac measures) of (Xθ, Xθ+δ), where X is a d-dimensional Markov diffusion (d ≥ 1), θ > 0 and δ > 0. Following [5], the different representations are determined by a pair of localizing functions. We discuss the problem of variance reduction within the fa...

Multidimensional quasi-Monte Carlo Malliavin Greeks

The aim of this paper is extensively investigate the performance of the estimators for the Greeks of multidimensional complex path-dependent options obtained by the aid of Malliavin Calculus. The study analyses both the computation effort and the variance reduction in the Quasi-Monte Carlo simulation framework. For this purpose, we adopt the approach employed by Montero and Kohatsu-Higa to the ...
