چکیده
Introduction Phosphatidylserine (PS), a ubiquitous, endogenously occurring phospholipid, is the major acidic phospholipid in the brain. PS and other phospholipids make up the basic structural components of the cell membrane. These membrane phospholipids play an important role in cell-to-cell communication and transfer of biochemical messages into the cell, which trigger cellular responses. The proper functioning of these processes is of ultimate importance, especially in the central nervous system. It is theorized that PS enhances cellular metabolism and communication by influencing the fluidity of cell membranes.1-4 Oral supplementation of PS has been shown to affect neuronal membranes, cell metabolism, and specific neurotransmitter systems, including acetylcholine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine.1-4 Numerous clinical trials have established that PS exerts significant benefit for cognition, especially those functions that tend to decline with age, including memory, learning, vocabulary skills, and concentration.5

متن کاملHigh Serum Levels of Rheumatoid Factor and Anti-Phosphatidylserine Antibody in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease
Background: Immunopathological and inflammatory processes play important roles in the initiation and development of Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD). Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the serum levels of several autoantibodies including rheumatoid factor (RF), anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA), anti-small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (anti-Sm), anti-phosphatidylserine (anti-PS) and anti-car...
متن کاملCorrelation of results between validated in-house analysis method with new pharmacopeia monograph for analysis of Sitagliptin Phosphate API
Having validated analysis methods for medicinal ingredients is attractive for pharmaceutical companies. When a new molecule is introduced to the market, there is not any pharmacopeial analysis method for that. After publishing official methods, correlation between validated in-house methods and the official one could stablish the value of the in-house method. Sitagliptin phosphate is a new anti...
متن کاملA Monograph of Verticillium Section Prostrata
Section Prostrata of the genus Verticillium was introduced by GAMS (1971) to separate verticillium-like anamorphs of the Clavicipitaceae from other species of the genus that were known or supposed to have affinities with other families of the Hypocreales. Other sections of Verticillium were subsequently described by GAMS & VAN ZAAYEN (1982). MESSNER et al. (1996) showed that the most important ...
متن کاملDisruption of phosphatidylserine translocation to the mitochondria in baby hamster kidney cells.
Phosphatidylserine synthase is found predominantly in the microsomal fraction, and phosphatidylserine decarboxylase is found predominantly in the mitochondrial fraction of baby hamster kidney (BHK-21) cells. This segregation of enzymes of phosphatidylserine metabolism allows serine metabolism to phosphatidylserine and phosphatidylethanolamine to be used as an indicator of the intracellular move...
