mTORC2 critically regulates renal potassium handling.

The mTOR pathway orchestrates cellular homeostasis. The rapamycin-sensitive mTOR complex (mTORC1) in the kidney has been widely studied; however, mTORC2 function in renal tubules is poorly characterized. Here, we generated mice lacking mTORC2 in the distal tubule (Rictorfl/fl Ksp-Cre mice), which were viable and had no obvious phenotype, except for a 2.5-fold increase in plasma aldosterone. Cha...

mTOR Regulates Endocytosis and Nutrient Transport in Proximal Tubular Cells.

Renal proximal tubular cells constantly recycle nutrients to ensure minimal loss of vital substrates into the urine. Although most of the transport mechanisms have been discovered at the molecular level, little is known about the factors regulating these processes. Here, we show that mTORC1 and mTORC2 specifically and synergistically regulate PTC endocytosis and transport processes. Using a con...

I-33: Oxidative Stress Responses in EarlyPregnancy

Background: Survival of the conceptus is dependent on continuous progesterone signaling in the maternal decidua but how this is achieved under conditions of oxidative stress that characterize early pregnancy is unknown. Materials and Methods: Laboratory-based analysis of endometrial biopsies and primary endometrial cultures. Results: Using primary cultures, we show that modest levels of reactiv...

use of 99m Tc-DMSA scintigraphy in assessment of renal complications of COVID-19

ABSTRACT COVID-19 mainly affects respiratory and immune systems, but other organs like renal, cardiovascular, lung and nervous systems could also be involved in both acute and chronic settings (1, 2). There is a lot of studies that demonstrate an increasing number of long COVID-19 who continue to experience persistent symptoms weeks or even months after the initial disease. Reports suggest...
