Empty region graphs

چکیده
A family of proximity graphs, called Empty Region Graphs (ERG) is presented. The vertices of an ERG are points in the plane, and two points are connected if their neighborhood, defined by a region, does not contain any other point. The region defining the neighborhood of two points is a parameter of the graph. This way of defining graphs is not new, and ERGs include several known proximity graphs such as Nearest Neighbor Graphs, β-Skeletons or Θ-Graphs. The main contribution is to provide insight and connections between the definition of ERG and the properties of the corresponding graphs. We give conditions on the region defining an ERG to ensure a number of properties that might be desirable in applications, such as planarity, connectivity, trianglefreeness, cycle-freeness, bipartiteness and bounded degree. These conditions take the form of what we call tight regions: maximal or minimal regions that a region must contain or be contained in to make the graph satisfy a given property. We show that every monotone property has at least one corresponding tight region; we discuss possibilities and limitations of this general model for constructing a graph from a point set.

The automorphism group of the reduced complete-empty $X-$join of graphs
Suppose $X$ is a simple graph. The $X-$join $Gamma$ of a set ofcomplete or empty graphs ${X_x }_{x in V(X)}$ is a simple graph with the following vertex and edge sets:begin{eqnarray*}V(Gamma) &=& {(x,y) | x in V(X) & y inV(X_x) },\ E(Gamma) &=& {(x,y)(x^prime,y^prime) | xx^prime in E(X) or else x = x^prime & yy^prime in E(X_x)}.end{eqnarray*}The $X-$join graph $Gamma$ is said to be re...
متن کاملOn Visibility & Empty-Region Graphs
Empty-Region graphs are well-studied in Computer Graphics, Geometric Modeling, Computational Geometry, as well as in Robotics and Computer Vision. The vertices of these graphs are points in space, and two vertices are connected by an arc if there exists an empty region of a certain shape and size between them. In most of the graphs discussed in the literature, the empty region is assumed to be ...
متن کاملThe intersection between some subclasses of circular-arc and circle graphs
The intersection graph of a family of arcs on a circle is called a circular-arc graph. This class of graphs admits some interesting subclasses: proper circular-arc graphs, unit circular-arc graphs, Helly circular-arc graphs and clique-Helly circular-arc graphs. The intersection graph of a family of chords in a circle is called a circle graph. Analogously, this class of graphs admits some subcla...
متن کاملOn Total Edge Irregularity Strength of Staircase Graphs and Related Graphs
Let G=(V(G),E(G)) be a connected simple undirected graph with non empty vertex set V(G) and edge set E(G). For a positive integer k, by an edge irregular total k-labeling we mean a function f : V(G)UE(G) --> {1,2,...,k} such that for each two edges ab and cd, it follows that f(a)+f(ab)+f(b) is different from f(c)+f(cd)+f(d), i.e. every two edges have distinct weights. The minimum k for which G ...
متن کاملOn some subclasses of circular-arc graphs
The intersection graph of a family of arcs on a circle is called a circular-arc graph. This class of graphs admits some interesting subclasses: proper circular-arc graphs, unit circular-arc graphs, Helly circular-arc graphs and clique-Helly circular-arc graphs. In this paper, all possible intersections of these subclasses are studied. There are thirteen regions. Twelve of these are nonempty, an...
