Surface Micro-Structuring of Silica Glass by Laser-Induced Backside Wet Etching with ns-Pulsed UV Laser at a High Repetition Rate

چکیده
Surface micro-structuring of silica glass plates was performed by using laser-induced backside wet etching (LIBWE) upon irradiation with a single-mode laser beam from a diode-pumped solidstate UV laser at 266 nm. We have succeeded in a well-defined micro-pattern formation without debris and microcrack formations around the etched area on the basis of galvanometer-based point scanning system with the laser beam. The behavior of liquid ablation (explosive vaporization) was monitored by impulse pressure detection with a fast-response piezoelectric pressure gauge. LIBWE method is suitable for rapid prototyping and rapid manufacturing of surface microstructuing of silica glass as mask-less exposure system in a conventional atmospheric environment.

A compact UV pulsed laser pumped by high-power two-dimensional arrays of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) was presented. A passively Q-switched 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser was side-pumped by kW-class 808-nm VCSEL pump modules and the output pulses were frequency quadrupled to 266-nm. 10-ns, 0.68-mJ UV pulsed output was obtained at 1.33k-Hz repetition rate. The average UV power is > 0.9...

We use a femtosecond laser to fabricate on a glass substrate both microfluidic channels and high quality optical waveguides, intersecting each other. Waveguide-channel integration opens new prospects for in-situ sensing in lab-on-chip devices. متن کاملMicro-channels over the glass surface made by interaction of Ar+ laser beam and Ag+/Na+ ion-exchanged glasses
Micro-channels are made over the Ag+/Na+ ion-exchanged soda-lime glass surface by interaction of an intense Ar+ laser beam and the silver ions inside the glass matrix. The Ar+ laser beam reduces the Ag+ ions inside the matrix. The Ag+ atoms aggregate into silver nano-clusters around the interaction area, inside the glass matrix. Aggregation of the silver atoms and the thermal effects of the int...
