Retinal cysts following cryotherapy.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cryotherapy, a technique extensively used in retinal surgery during the past few years, is claimed to be a safer procedure than diathermy and photocoagulation (Kirkconnell and Rubin, I965; Curtin, Fujino, and Norton, I966; Lincoff and McLean, I966; McDonald and Tasman, I967), but occasional complications have been described (Burch and Morse, I968; Shea, I968). The present report records the occurrence of retinal cysts which developed in two patients adjacent to the treated areas shortly after cryotherapy.

Multicenter trial of cryotherapy for retinopathy of prematurity.
We report the preliminary three-month outcome of a multicenter randomized trial of cryotherapy for treatment of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). Transscleral cryotherapy to the avascular retina was applied in one randomly selected eye when there was threshold disease (defined as five or more contiguous or eight cumulative 30 degrees sectors [clock hours] of stage 3 ROP in zone 1 or 2 in the pr...

AIMS The correlation between cryoscars and visual field defects following cryoablation was studied. METHODS A Humphrey 120 full field screening test was performed in 10 children (15 eyes) who were treated by cryotherapy between 10 and 14 years previously for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) stage 3. RESULTS In eight eyes treated by cryoablation through 360 degrees in zone I or II, a moderat...
متن کاملAneurysmal bone cysts treated by curettage, cryotherapy and bone grafting.
We treated 26 patients with 27 aneurysmal bone cysts by curettage and cryotherapy and evaluated local tumour control, complications and functional outcome. The mean follow-up time was 47 months (19 to 154). There was local recurrence in one patient. Two patients developed deep wound infections and one had a postoperative fracture. We compared our results with previous reports in which several d...
متن کاملRetinal detachment surgery without cryotherapy.
A series of cases of retinal detachment treated without the application of cryotherapy at the time of surgery has been studied. The omission of cryotherapy while not interfering with retinal reattachment, carries the risk of redetachment at a later date. Macular pucker may still occur in spite of the absence of cryotherapy.
متن کاملTransscleral Photocoagulation to Treat ROP in Eyes with Media Opacity
It has been well established that laser treatment for type 1 prethreshold retinopathy of prematurity is effective in approximately 90 percent of treated eyes, avoiding retinal detachment.1 Transpupillary laser therapy is certainly the standard; however, there are circumstances in which transpupillary treatment may be difficult or impossible to perform thus allowing progression of retinopathy of...
