An Experiment in Formalizing Commitments Using Action Languages

چکیده
This paper investigates the use of high-level action languages for representing and reasoning about commitments in multiagent domains. The paper introduces the language Lmt with features motivated by the problem of representing commitments; in particular, it shows how Lmt can handle both simple commitment actions and complex commitment protocols. The semantics ofLmt provides a uniform solution to different problems in reasoning about commitments, e.g., the problem of (i) verifying whether an agent fails (or succeeds) to deliver on its commitments; (ii) identifying pending commitments; and (iii) suggesting ways to satisfy pending commitments.

Formalizing Commitments Using Action Languages
This paper presents an action language, calledL, for representing and reasoning about commitments in multi-agent domains. The language is an extension of the language L, with new features motivated by the problem of representing and reasoning about commitments. These features include time, delayed effects, ir/reversible effects, concurrent actions, and multi-agents, for specifying and reasoning...
متن کاملDistinguishing Propositional and Action Commitment in Agent Communication
Our goal is to extend agent communication languages for persuasion dialogues. We distinguish action commitments from propositional commitments, because both limit future moves, but an action commitment is fulfilled when the hearer believes that the action is performed, whereas a propositional commitment is fulfilled only when the hearer concedes to the proposition – where concessions are the ab...
متن کاملTogether, Is Anything Possible? A Look at Collective Commitments for Agents
In this research, commitments – specifically collective commitments – are looked at as a way to model connections between agents in groups. Using the concepts and ideas from action languages, we propose to model these commitments as actions along with the other basic actions that autonomous agents are capable of performing. The languages developed will be tested against different examples from ...
متن کاملPlanning with Action Languages: Perspectives using CLP(FD) and ASP
Action description languages, such as A and B (Gelfond and Lifschitz, 1998), are expressive tools introduced for formalizing planning domains and problems. In this work, we investigate two alternative approaches to the problem of encoding action languages using logic programming. Starting from a slight variation of B, we explore the use of Answer Set Programming (ASP) and Constraint Logic Progr...
متن کاملFormalizing Commitment-Based Deals in Boolean Games
Boolean games (BGs) are a strategic framework in which agents’ goals are described using propositional logic. Despite the popularity of BGs, the problem of how agents can coordinate with others to (at least partially) achieve their goals has hardly received any attention. However, negotiation protocols that have been developed outside the setting of BGs can be adopted for this purpose, provided...
