چکیده

The Internet Integrated Services (IIS) architecturee3] has a fundamental scaling problem in that per ow state is maintained at all routers and end-systems supporting a ow. This paper examines the use of aggregation as a technique to reduce the amount of state needed to provide IIS. In our approach, routers at the edge of a region doing aggregation keep detailed IIS state, while in the interior of this region, routers keep a greatly reduced amount of state. Packets will be tagged at the network edge with scheduling information that will be used in place of the detailed IIS state. The aggregation scheme described will allow large scale deployment of IIS without overloading routers with state and associated processing.

eUPB: Towards an Integrated e-Service Platform in Large Scale Distributed Environments

The main goal of this paper is to present the architecture and functionality of e-Service based platform. The project is structured along several dimensions that follow the development of complementary services, integrated to support everyday work experience, research and learning in the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (UPB). The platform support is represented by Internet as a large scale ...

Providing Quality of Service Guarantees without Per-Flow State

Two approaches have been proposed to improve the quality of service provided by the Internet: integrated services and differentiated services. Integrated services requires perflow state at each router. On the other hand, differentiated services does not require per-flow state, but provides a lower level of quality of service. We present a protocol which provides quality of service similar to th...

Flow Aggregation Using Dynamic Packet State

While the Internet is tremendously scalable, it is based on simplistic design that provides only egalitarian best effort service for all traffic types. Two architectural extensions have been proposed, namely Intserv and Diffserv, to enhance the service architecture. While Integrated Services (Intserv) can provide hard Quality of Service (QoS) requirements (delay and bandwidth) to individual flo...

Aggregation of Guaranteed Service Flows

It is common belief that the Integrated Services architecture (IntServ) is not scalable to large networks as, e.g. the global Internet. This is due to the ambitious goal of providing per-flow QoS and the resulting complexity of finegrained traffic management. One solution to this problem is the aggregation of IntServ traffic flows in the core of the network. While one might suspect that aggrega...
