Continuous Multicasting on Statically-Allocated VC-based Switches in High-Bandwidth Networks

چکیده
| We analytically model continuous multicasting to uniformly-distributed destinations on statically-allocated VC-based switches. Our models compare favorably with simulations. Our results indicate that a higher number of virtual circuits improves switch throughput, especially for unicasting. For multicasting, the improvement only occurs at small packet arrival rates, while at higher rates there is throughput saturation due to packet scheduling con-icts. Maximum possible throughput can be achieved by a broadcasting switch, at the expense of much higher switch latency. We also show that the more complex cut-through switch model does not achieve better performance for multicasting switches.

Due to the increasing growth of processing cores in complex computational systems, all the connection converted bottleneck for all systems. With the protection of progressing and constructing complex photonic connection on chip, optical data transmission is the best choice for replacing with electrical interconnection for the reason of gathering connection with a high bandwidth and insertion lo...
متن کاملWDM Network and Multicasting Protocol Strategies
Optical technology gains extensive attention and ever increasing improvement because of the huge amount of network traffic caused by the growing number of internet users and their rising demands. However, with wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), it is easier to take the advantage of optical networks and optical burst switching (OBS) and to construct WDM networks with low delay rates and bet...
متن کاملOn applications for dynamically shared circuit-switched/virtual-circuit networks
Generalized MultiProtocol Label Switched (GMPLS) control-plane protocols have been standardized to enable dynamic call-by-call bandwidth sharing in circuit-switched/virtual-circuit (VC) networks. Most GMPLS control-plane implementations within controller cards of circuit/VC switches only support an immediate-request mode of bandwidth sharing because the signaling protocols within the GMPLS cont...
