Extrinsic Information Transfer Charts for Narrow-Band Multiple Access
نویسندگان
چکیده
Convergence analysis of iterative detectors for narrowband multiple access is performed by using extrinsic information transfer charts. The system has no bandwidth expansion, so K users are using the same bandwidth as one single user. The load (the number of bits per channel use) of the system is therefore higher than the load in, for example, conventional CDMA systems. The analysis provide useful guidelines how to combine outer codes with the chosen mapper for different loads of the system. Both memoryless mappers and differential mappers are evaluated. The limitations of the system measured in the maximum number of users and the required SNR for different scenarios are presented.

متن کاملEffect of Forward Error Correction Codes on the Performance of LDS-OFDM
In this paper, selection criteria of Forward Error Correction (FEC) codes, in particular, the convolutional codes are evaluated for a novel air interface scheme, called Low Density Signature Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (LDS-OFDM). In this regard, the mutual information transfer characteristics of turbo Multiuser Detector (MUD) are investigated using Extrinsic Information Trans...
متن کاملFidelity Charts and Stopping/Termination Criteria for Iterative Multiuser Detection
An iterative multiuser detection (IMUD) receiver is considered for a code-division multiple-access (CDMA) system with turbo codes. Fidelity is considered as a metric for convergence analysis and an approximation of fidelity as a function of variance of the log-likelihood ratios is introduced. Fidelity charts are compared with extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) charts as tools for convergence...

With wide applications of Turbo Principle in communications engineering, the EXIT Charts (Extrinsic Information Transfer Charts) has been a powerful tool to visualize the convergence behavior of iterative decoding process based on mutual information. Within this report, an introduction to EXIT Charts, its background, properties and applications are presented to allow the audience be familiar wi...
متن کاملTransfer Chart Analysis of Iterative OFDM Receivers with Data Aided Channel Estimation
In this paper, we investigate a coded OFDM system employing an iterative receiver, which is a serial concatenation of an inner and outer component decoder. The inner component decoder includes pilot and data aided channel estimation (CE) and demodulation whereas the outer component decoder consists of the decoder. Between these two components extrinsic loglikelihood ratio values of the code bit...
