چکیده
The growing demand for high-speed wireless access to the Internet is the driving force behind the current trends to design All-IP wireless networks, whose Access Router and mobile stations use Internet Protocol for signaling and /or data transport. That will allow an ubiquitous IPbased access by mobile users, with special emphasis on the ability to use a wide variety of wireless and wired access technologies to access the common information infrastructure. The design of an AllIP wireless network requires an efficient and flexible handover management, independent of layer 2 protocol, which allows efficient mobile stations roaming between Access Routers. In this paper we propose new IPv6-based Soft-handover approach, which guarantee an efficient and flexible mobile handover between heterogeneous wireless networks.

Semi-soft FMIPv6 for 802.11 Network
Mobility support in the wireless network enables us to be served continuous service. Fast Handover for Mobile IPv6 (FMIPv6) is proposed to support a faster handover than that of Mobile IPv6. Unfortunately, FMIPv6 shows too long handover latency to serve smooth video traffic flows. We proposed semi-soft FMIPv6 handover to minimize the handover latency to serve video traffic efficiently. The prop...
متن کاملCellular SCTP: a transport-layer approach to Internet mobility
In this paper, we describe a transport layer mobility scheme termed Cellular SCTP, or cSCTP for short, based on the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP), for seamless soft handoff. We compare Mobile IPv6 and two of its variants (Mobile IPv6 with Fast-Handover and Hierarchical Mobile IPv6) with cSCTP on various aspects (especially the handoff process of micro-mobility). We also analyze th...
متن کاملMeasurement-Based Comparison of IPv4/IPv6 Mobility Protocols on a WLAN Scenario
This paper focuses on a measurement-based comparison of the handover for different mobility protocols: Mobile IPv4, Mobile IPv6 and Fast Handovers for Mobile IPv6. The paper studies the handover using active and passive measurements computing the handover latency, packet losses and the provided QoS level in a real testbed. Our experimental results show that there are severe QoS fluctuations bef...
متن کاملHandover Management for Mobile Nodes in IPv6 Networks
In this article we analyze IPv6 handover over wireless LAN. Mobile IPv6 is designed to manage mobile nodes’ movements between wireless IPv6 networks. Nevertheless, the active communications of a mobile node are interrupted until the handover completes. Therefore, several extensions to Mobile IPv6 have been proposed to reduce the handover latency and the number of lost packets. We describe two o...
