Land Values Continue Rise

چکیده
T he 1998 Purdue Land Values survey indicates that the value of an acre of average bare Indiana cropland was $2,155 per acre in June 1998, $55 more than the all-time peak reached in 1981. This is an increase of $158 per acre, or approximately 8 percent, over the value reported in 1997. In each of the past five years, annual increases in the value of this land have ranged from about $100 to over $200 per acre, resulting in an increase of 65 percent for the fiveyear period. Cash rents rose from 1997 to 1998 on average land by a little less than 2 percent to $112 per acre. While rents continued to move upward setting new highs, the rate of increase was significantly less than the 6-percent increase reported in 1997. The increase in cash rents for the past five years has been only 26 percent, in contrast to the 65percent increase in average land values.

Upward Trend in Land Values Continues
During the early years of the 1981-87 decline in Indiana land values, there were reports of decreasing numbers of sales and increasing amounts of land for sale. This situation was reversed about 1987 and continues today as indicated by a majority of Purdue land values survey respondents who believe there is less land on the market now than a year ago and that sales have picked up. The same or l...
متن کاملModeled Tradeoffs between Developed Land Protection and Tidal Habitat Maintenance during Rising Sea Levels
Tidal habitats host a diversity of species and provide hydrological services such as shoreline protection and nutrient attenuation. Accretion of sediment and biomass enables tidal marshes and swamps to grow vertically, providing a degree of resilience to rising sea levels. Even if accelerating sea level rise overcomes this vertical resilience, tidal habitats have the potential to migrate inland...
متن کاملKurdish Movements and Distributive Power Structures: A Theoretical Model to Understand the Rise and Fall of Kurdish Movements
Many studies have been conducted on the Kurds and their movements. Most authors have considered historical dimensions or applied limited theoretical variables, but have not been able to identify the variables to identify the key reasons behind the rise and fall of Kurdish movements in an explanatory theoretical model. Consequently, there is neither available data about their rise, continuity, a...
متن کاملStatewide Farmland Values Continue Modest Increase
T he Purdue land values survey revealed a statewide increase of 3.2% in the value of average-quality bare tillable land in the year ending in June 1992, about double the tiny increase of 1991-92. The USDA estimate for the year ending January 1 was 5%. The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago survey of bankers indicated a 4% increase for the year ending March 31 in “good” farmland in the northern two...
متن کاملCoastal Subsidence Monitoring Associated with Land Reclamation Using the Point Target Based SBAS-InSAR Method: A Case Study of Shenzhen, China
Shenzhen, the first special economic zone of China, has witnessed earth-shaking changes since the late 1980s. In the past 35 years, about 80 km2 of land has been reclaimed from the sea in Shenzhen. In order to investigate coastal vertical land motions associated with land reclamation, we proposed an elaborated Point Target (PT) based Small Baseline Subset InSAR (SBAS-InSAR) strategy to process ...
