چکیده

Numerical calculations are reported which simulate atmospheric-pressure radiofrequency induction plasmas consisting of either pure argon or mixtures of argon with hydrogen, nitrogen, or oxygen. These calculations are compared to observations of laboratoo, plasmas generated with the same geometrr and run conditions. The major features of the laboratory plasmas are predicted well by the calculations: the pure argon plasma is the largest, with the argon-oxygen plasma slightly smaller. The argon-nitrogen plasma is considerably smaller and the argon-hydrogen plasma is the shortest, although somewhat fatter than the argon-nitrogen case. The calculations are not entirely successful in predicting the exact location of the plasmas relative to the coils. A likely explanation is that there is significant uncertainty regarding the actual power coupled to the laboratory plasmas.

Influence of gas contaminant on the electron kinetic in microwave Ar plasmas at atmospheric pressure

Influence of nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen traces in an atmospheric pressure argon surface-wave plasma was studied by mean of emission spectroscopy. The electron temperature and density were respectively shown to increase and decrease with an increased flow of gas contaminant, the trends being more significant in the case of oxygen. However, Ar 1s2 level number densities remained constant for a...

Shrouding of Thermal Plasma Jets Generated by Gas-Water Torch

The ambient air is entrained intensively into atmospheric pressure thermal plasma jets. A system for shielding plasma jet has been used to improve jet characteristics and reduce oxygen content. All shroud gases used in experiments affected plasma jet making the pr...

Investigation of Cold Atmospheric Pressure Plasma at Radio-frequency 13.56 MHZ

In this study we designed an RF plasma circuit. By using argon as plasma-forming gas, we investigated argon cold plasma plume at atmospheric pressure. Due to the tendency of transferring into arc mode after gas breakdown, resulting from the avalanche of electrons, we employed a glass tube as a dielectric barrier layer to inhibit the occurrence of the arc mode. We used an RF power supply at freq...
