A Model for Business Process Supporting Web Applications

چکیده

The development of e-business applications often suffers from large and incomprehensible specification documents used for communication between the customer and the software supplier. In this paper we describe our research efforts and results to improve this process by replacing an informal graphical/textual model with a formal one allowing rapid prototyping and test case generation. Since our focus is on business process support, the prototype consequently focuses on the navigation dynamics of the future system without considering web page content and style. We started with a model based on the business process modeling language ADONIS supported by the equally named tool. Our current approach uses Harel’s Statechart notation and Artisan Real Time Studio as tool. The use of an executable prototype made it possible to evaluate the system in an very early stage, to simulate it interactively, to generate test sequences and to conduct arbitrary, computer-aided model analyses.
