چکیده

OBJECTIVE To determine the prevalence of preeruptive intracoronal dentin defects in Chinese children from panoramic radiographs, and describe the imaging characteristics of these lesions. METHODS A total of 707 panoramic radiographs with 8,171 unerupted permanent teeth were examined. Each unerupted tooth was examined with regard to the absence or presence of radiolucencies within the dentin of the crown. The location and size of the lesions were recorded. Also whether the lesion communicated with the pulp was noted. RESULTS The prevalence of intracoronal radiolucency in the subjects was 0.85%, and the tooth prevalence of the anomaly was 0.7%. CONCLUSION Panoramic radiographs may help in detecting the preeruptive intracoronal defect.

Pre-Eruptive Intracronal Resorbtion at Unerupted Three Molar Teeth: A Case Report

Pre-Eruptive Intracronal Radiolucency (PEIR) is seen as a radiolucent anomaly at coronal dentin of unerupted teeth. PEIR is often confused because of similarities with dental caries. Pre-eruptive intracoronal resorptions are typically observed as radiolucency in dentin tissue, and the lesions are close to the enamel dentin junction. Lesions are often coincidentally noticed on the radiographs of...

Preeruptive intracoronal radiolucency caused by resorption: report of a case

The aim of this study were to describe a clinical case of an intracoronal radiolucent lesion detected in unerupted mandibular first molar and to discuss the aetiology of the present case utilising immunocytochemical staining of the removed tissue from the lesion. In contact with the enamel surface and near the dentine fragment of the removed tissue, numerous multinucleated giant cells were obse...

Preeruptive Intracoronal Radiolucencies: Detection and Nine Years Monitoring with a Series of Dental Radiographs

Preeruptive intracoronal radiolucencies (PEIRs) are mostly incidentally found by routine radiographic examination of unerupted teeth. PEIRs are classified into two types according to the nature of the lesion: progressive and nonprogressive. A case report of a 17-year-old boy with a nonprogressive PEIR on the permanent mandibular left second molar is presented. The lesion was initially detected ...
