چکیده
Pathophysiology of mesenteric ischemia/reperfusion: a review During ischemia, the cell structures are progressively damaged, but restoration of the blood flow, paradoxically, intensifies the lesions caused by the ischemia. The mechanisms of ischemia injury and reperfusion (I/R) have not been completely defined and many studies have been realized in an attempt to find an ideal therapy for mesenteric I/R. The occlusion and reperfusion of the splanchnic arteries provokes local and systemic alterations principally derived from the release of cytotoxic substances and the interaction between neutrophils and endothelial cells. Substances involved in the process are discussed in the present review, like oxygen-derived free radicals, nitric oxide, transcription factors, complement system, serotonin and pancreatic proteases. The mechanisms of apoptosis, alterations in other organs, therapeutic and evaluation methods are also discussed.

Renal ischemia and reperfusion injury: influence of chorpromazine on renal function and lipid peroxidation Lesão de isquemia e reperfusão renal: influência da clorpromazina na função renal e na peroxidação lipídica
Purpose: To evaluate the influence of chlorpromazine (CPZ) on renal function and lipid peroxidation in a rat model of kidney ischemia/reperfusion injury. Methods: Forty eight Wistar rats underwent a laparotomy for hilar clamping of left kidney with a bulldog clamp for 60 minutes followed by organ reperfusion and contralateral nephrectomy. Of these, 26 received 3mg/kg of CPZ intravenously 15 min...

Purpose: To evaluate the influence of ischemia/reperfusion injury on renal compensatory growth (CGR) and mitochondrial function. Methods: Forty five Wistar rats were divided in 3 groups: Control Group (GC) – 21 rats were submitted to a sham laparotomy and sacrificed at 1 (6 rats) and 7 (15 rats) postoperative days to evaluate the dry weight of both kidneys and their growth during 1 week (6 rats...

Purpose: To study the role of methylene blue as an inhibitor of superoxide production by xanthine oxidase. Methods: Thirty-two Wistar rats were divided into 2 groups of 16 animals: the control group and the experimental group. All were submitted to a laparotomy for the occlusion of the cranial mesenteric artery during 60 minutes. The reperfusion was confirmed by the pulsation of the artery afte...

Methods: we randomized 35 rats into seven groups of five animals: Group 1- Control; Group 2- Ischemia and Reperfusion; Group 3- Ischemia, Reperfusion and Saline; Group 4- Ischemic Postconditioning; Group...
متن کاملISCHEMIA/REPERFUSION INJURY AFTER CONTINUOUS OR INTERMITTENT HEPATIC PEDICLE CLAMPING IN RABBITS Lesão de isquemia e reperfusão após clampagem contínua ou intermitente do pedículo hepático em coelhos
HEADINGS Ischemia/surgery. Reperfusion injury. Liver/surgery. Apoptosis ABSTRACT Background The control of bleeding in hepatectomy is a challenge for surgeons. The hepatic pedicle clamping is a surgical maneuver that can provide reduction in bleeding, but it provokes a hepatocellular suffering. This, along with reperfusion after the clamping finishes, leads to an injury known as ischemia/reperf...
