EEF 1 A 1 ( eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 alpha 1 )

چکیده
The main processed mRNA encompasses exons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, this last can be in short or long form. In a few cases also exon 1' is retained. In a few cases exons 1 (and 1') are substituted by the alternative exon from a putative upstream minor promoter, as described above. Moreover, a quite high number of processed transcripts that, after exons 1 and 2, retain intron 2, which introduces a stop codon 22 residues downstream of exon 2 are found (see for instance some of the many ESTs: dbj-DC389722.1, dbj-DC341899.1, dbjDC414491.1).

The mode of action of Shiga toxin on peptide elongation of eukaryotic protein synthesis.
The effect of Shiga toxin, from Shigella dysenteriae 1, on the component reactions of peptide elongation were investigated. Enzymic binding of [3H]phenylalanine-tRNA to reticulocyte ribosomes was inhibited by 50% at 7 nM toxin. Elongation factor 1 (eEF-1)-dependent GTPase activity was also inhibited. Both reactions were not restored by addition of excess eEF-1 protein. In contrast, toxin concen...
متن کاملInteraction of ZPR1 with translation elongation factor-1alpha in proliferating cells
The zinc finger protein ZPR1 is present in the cytoplasm of quiescent mammalian cells and translocates to the nucleus upon treatment with mitogens, including epidermal growth factor (EGF). Homologues of ZPR1 were identified in yeast and mammals. These ZPR1 proteins bind to eukaryotic translation elongation factor-1 a (eEF-1 a ). Studies of mammalian cells demonstrated that EGF treatment induces...
متن کاملAngiotensin II regulates phosphorylation of translation elongation factor-2 in cardiac myocytes.
Increased protein synthesis is the cardinal feature of cardiac hypertrophy. We have studied angiotensin II (ANG II)-dependent regulation of eukaryotic elongation factor-2 (eEF-2), an essential component of protein translation required for polypeptide elongation, in rat neonatal cardiac myocytes. eEF2 is fully active in its dephosphorylated state and is inhibited following phosphorylation by eEF...
متن کاملEvidence for regulation of protein synthesis at the elongation step by CDK1/cyclin B phosphorylation.
Eukaryotic elongation factor 1 (eEF-1) contains the guanine nucleotide exchange factor eEF-1B that loads the G protein eEF-1A with GTP after each cycle of elongation during protein synthesis. Two features of eEF-1B have not yet been elucidated: (i) the presence of the unique valyl-tRNA synthetase; (ii) the significance of target sites for the cell cycle protein kinase CDK1/cyclin B. The roles o...
متن کاملDiscrimination between initiation and elongation of protein biosynthesis in yeast: identity assured by a nucleotide modification in the initiator tRNA.
Cytoplasmic initiator tRNAs from plants and fungi possess an unique 2'-phosphoribosyl residue at position 64 of their sequence. In yeast tRNA(iMet), this modified nucleotide located in the T-stem of the tRNA is a 2'-1''-(beta-O-ribofuranosyl-5''-phosphoryl)-adenosine. The phosphoribosyl residue of this modified nucleoside was removed chemically by treatment involving periodate oxidation of tRNA...
