چکیده

Fabrication and readout of devices with progressively smaller size, ultimately down to the molecular scale, is critical for the development of very-high-frequency nanoelectromechanical systems ~NEMS!. Nanomaterials, such as carbon nanotubes or nanowires, offer immense prospects as active elements for these applications. We report the fabrication and measurement of a platinum nanowire resonator, 43 nm in diameter and 1.3 mm in length. This device, among the smallest NEMS reported, has a fundamental vibration frequency of 105.3 MHz, with a quality factor of 8500 at 4 K. Its resonant motion is transduced by a technique that is well suited to ultrasmall mechanical structures. © 2003 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1601311#

Self-Biased 215MHz Magnetoelectric NEMS Resonator for Ultra-Sensitive DC Magnetic Field Detection

High sensitivity magnetoelectric sensors with their electromechanical resonance frequencies < 200 kHz have been recently demonstrated using magnetostrictive/piezoelectric magnetoelectric heterostructures. In this work, we demonstrate a novel magnetoelectric nano-electromechanical systems (NEMS) resonator with an electromechanical resonance frequency of 215 MHz based on an AlN/(FeGaB/Al2O3) × 10...

Lattice Boltzmann Simulation of High-Frequency Flows: Electromechanical Resonators in Gaseous Media

In this work, we employ a kinetic theory based approach to predict the hydrodynamic forces on electromechanical resonators operating in gaseous media. Using the Boltzmann-BGK equation, we investigate the influence of the resonator geometry on the fluid resistance in the entire range of nondimensional frequency variation 0 ≤ τω ≤ ∞; here the fluid relaxation time τ = μ/p is determined by the gas...

Ultrahigh-density nanowire lattices and circuits.

We describe a general method for producing ultrahigh-density arrays of aligned metal and semiconductor nanowires and nanowire circuits. The technique is based on translating thin film growth thickness control into planar wire arrays. Nanowires were fabricated with diameters and pitches (center-to-center distances) as small as 8 nanometers and 16 nanometers, respectively. The nanowires have high...

Silicon on Nothing Mems Electromechanical Resonator

The very significant growth of the wireless communication industry has spawned tremendous interest in the development of high performances radio frequencies (RF) components. Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) are good candidates to allow reconfigurable RF functions such as filters, oscillators or antennas. This paper will focus on the MEMS electromechanical resonators which show interestin...
