چکیده

INTRODUCTION The Metaheuristics are general strategies for designing heuristic procedures with high performance. The term metaheuristic, which appeared in 1986 for the first time (Glover, 1986), is compound by the terms: " meta " , that means over or behind, and " heuristic ". Heuristic is the qualifying used for methods of solving optimization problems that are obtained from the intuition, expertise or general knowledge (Michalewicz & Fogel, 2000). Nowadays a lot of known strategies can be classified as metaheuristics and there are a clear increasing number of research papers and applications that use this kind of methods. Several optimization methods that already existed when the term appeared have been later interpreted as metaheuristics (Glover & Kochenberger, 2003). Genetic Algorithms, Neural Networks, Local Searches, and Simulated Annealing are some of those classical metaheuristics. Several modern metaheuristics have succeeded in solving relevant optimization problems in industry, business and engineering. The most relevant among them are Tabu Search, Variable Neighbourhood Search and GRASP. New population based evolutionary metaheuristics such as Scatter Search and Estimation Distribution Algorithms are also quite important. Besides Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithms, other nature-inspired metaheuristics such as Ant Colony Optimization and Particle Swarm Optimization are also now well known metaheuristics..

Extending the Hybridization of Metaheuristics with Data Mining to a Broader Domain

The incorporation of data mining techniques into metaheuristics has been efficiently adopted to solve several optimization problems. Nevertheless, we observe in the literature that this hybridization has been limited to problems in which the solutions are characterized by sets of (unordered) elements. In this work, we develop a hybrid data mining metaheuristic to solve a problem for which solut...

A hybrid data mining GRASP with path-relinking

The exploration of hybrid metaheuristics — combination of metaheuristics with concepts and processes from other research areas — has been an important trend in combinatorial optimization research. In this work, we developed a hybrid version of the GRASP metaheuristic which incorporates the path-relinking procedure — a memory-based intensification strategy — and a data mining module. Computation...

Tuning metaheuristics: A data mining based approach for particle swarm optimization

The paper is concerned with practices for tuning the parameters of metaheuristics. Settings such as, e.g., the cooling factor in simulated annealing, may greatly affect a metaheuristic’s efficiency as well as effectiveness in solving a given decision problem. However, procedures for organizing parameter calibration are scarce and commonly limited to particular metaheuristics. We argue that the ...

A Pre-initialization Stage of Population-Based Bio-inspired Metaheuristics for Handling Expensive Optimization Problems

Metaheuristics are probabilistic optimization algorithms which are applicable to a wide range of optimization problems. Bio-inspired, also called nature-inspired, optimization algorithms are the most widely-known metaheuristics. The general scheme of bio-inspired algorithms consists in an initial stage of randomly generated solutions which evolve through search operations, for several generatio...

Using Datamining Techniques to Help Metaheuristics: A Short Survey

Hybridizing metaheuristic approaches becomes a common way to improve the efficiency of optimization methods. Many hybridizations deal with the combination of several optimization methods. In this paper we are interested in another type of hybridization, where datamining approaches are combined within an optimization process. Hence, we propose to study the interest of combining metaheuristics an...
