Inflated Geometric Distribution to Study the Distribution of Rural Out-Migrants
نویسنده
چکیده
The aim of this paper is to apply inflated geometric distribution to study the distribution of rural out-migrants from a household. The inflated geometric distribution is found to be a reasonable approximation to describe this distribution. The estimated value of risk parameter α was found to be 0.7004229. Findings may help planners and policy makers for designing more effective and equitable rural and urban policies.

On the Distribution of Risk of Migration and Its Estimation
In India, caste system through economic condition has strong roots in society and it affects the environment in which migration decision takes place. In the present study an attempt has been made to study the trends in rural adult out migration at the household level for different regions to understand the pattern of risk of adult out migration. Some probability models have been proposed to des...
متن کاملEstimation of Parameters of Inflated Poisson-Lindley Distribution for Adult Out-migration
The aim of this paper is to study the distribution of adult migrants from the household. The inflated Poisson-Lindley distribution is found to be a suitable model to describe this distribution. The parameters of this distribution have been estimated by two methods and suitability of model is checked by using real data sets. Findings may help planners and policy makers for designing more effecti...

متن کاملBayes Estimation for a Simple Step-stress Model with Type-I Censored Data from the Geometric Distribution
This paper focuses on a Bayes inference model for a simple step-stress life test using Type-I censored sample in a discrete set-up. Assuming the failure times at each stress level are geometrically distributed, the Bayes estimation problem of the parameters of interest is investigated in the both of point and interval approaches. To derive the Bayesian point estimators, some various balanced lo...
