Studies on Cellulase Production by Solid state Fermentation using Sweet Sorghum bagasse
نویسندگان
چکیده
The present study involves production of cellulolytic enzymes by a newly isolated strain of Aspergillus niger isolated from decaying sugarcane bagasse. Solid-state-fermentation was employed using sweet sorghum bagasse as the substrate for the production of enzyme. One factor at a time approach was used to optimize the process variables like moisture content, pH, temperature, and incubation period. A maximum of 19.2 FPU/gds of cellulose and 384.5 IU/g-ds of β-glucosidase activity of were obtained at 70% moisture content, a temperature of 30 °C, pH of 5 and incubation time of 96 h. This study showed an effective utilization of sweet sorghum bagasse for the production of cellulolytic enzymes which could be effectively used for hydrolysis to simple sugars for production of bioethanol.

The present study reports the production of high-level cellulase-free xylanase from Penicillium citrinum isolate HZN13. The variability in xylanase titers was assessed under both solid-state (SSF) and submerged (SmF) fermentation. SSF was initially optimized with different agro-waste residues, among them sweet sorghum bagasse was found to be the best substrate that favored maximum xylanase prod...

Background and Objectives: Cellulase is an important enzyme with multiple applications in industries, including food, laundry, pharmaceutical, textile, pulp, paper and biofuel industries. Solid-state fermentation (SSF) is a method for cellulase production, which includes several advantages, compared to submerged fermentation. In this study, cellulase was produced by three filamentous fungi, i.e...
متن کاملA novel cost-effective technology to convert sucrose and homocelluloses in sweet sorghum stalks into ethanol
BACKGROUND Sweet sorghum is regarded as a very promising energy crop for ethanol production because it not only supplies grain and sugar, but also offers lignocellulosic resource. Cost-competitive ethanol production requires bioconversion of all carbohydrates in stalks including of both sucrose and lignocellulose hydrolyzed into fermentable sugars. However, it is still a main challenge to reduc...
