The Impact of Waterjets on Human Flesh
نویسندگان
چکیده
Despite the fact that waterjets have become relatively extensively used for industrial cleaning, and are beginning to find increasing use in mining and civil excavation, little is reported on the risks associated with the use of this new tool to the operator. Regulations on the use of waterjets do not indicate an awareness of the relatively low pressures necessary to inject fluid under the skin, or to damage the underlying flesh.

Experimental investigation on the breakage of hard rock by the PDC cutters with combined action modes
To verify the feasibility and efficiency of rotary-percussive drilling assisted by waterjets in very hard rocks, experiments on the Ž . performance of polycrystalline diamond compact PDC cutters resisting different combined loads of static thrust, impact, cutting and waterjets on Missouri red granite and Halston limestone were investigated. The experiments were conducted by means of a Ž . drop ...
متن کاملThe effects of nozzle geometry on waterjet breakup at high Reynolds numbers
Waterjet breakup is traditionally considered to follow the Ohnesorge classification. In this classification, high Reynolds number waterjets are considered to atomize quickly after discharge. By generating a constricted waterjet where the water flow stays detached all the way through the nozzle, we have observed the first wind-induced breakup mode at high Reynolds numbers. Such a peculiar behavi...
متن کاملPotential human health risk assessment of heavy metals in the flesh of mallard and pochard in the South Eastern Caspian Sea region of Iran
Every year, migratory waterfowl are hunted and consumed by people in Golestan Province of Iran. Due to the heavy metal contamination of wintering habitats, an estimation of the human health risks associated with the consumption of these ducks is necessary. Therefore, this study was conducted to estimate the health risks of exposure to cadmium (Cd), total chromium (Cr), iron (Fe), lead (Pb), and...
متن کاملThe Impact of Architectural Space on Aesthetic Response (Case Study Shrine of Imam Reza)
Aesthetic chills have been hinted in the writings of some scholars for about two centuries, as a response which occurs through the five senses and it is accompanied by physical sensations, although not more than four decades have passed since the first scientific studies. This reaction is associated with the experience of goose bump and shiver in the spine and shoulders, or a tingle in the scal...
متن کاملThe Application of Waterjets in a Stressed Rock Environment
The use of high pressure waterjets is becoming increasingly common in industrial operations as a means of improving productivity. Although waterjets were initially developed as a mining tool, they have found only a limited use to the present time. Recent developments in the technology, however, promise the creation of relatively small light-weight equipment for use in mines. It is important in ...
