چکیده

The correlations involving the long–GRB prompt emission energy represent a new key to understand the GRB physics. These correlations have been proved to be the tool which makes long–GRBs a new class of standard candles. Gamma Ray Bursts, being very powerful cosmological sources detected in the hard X-ray band, represent a new tool to investigate the Universe in a redshift range which is complementary to that covered by other cosmological probes (SNIa and CMB). A review of the Ep−Eiso , Ep−Eγ , Ep−Eiso− tbreak , Liso−Ep−T0.45 correlations is presented. Open issues related to these correlations (e.g. presence of outliers and selection effects) and to their use for cosmographic purposes (e.g. dependence on model assumptions) are discussed. Finally, the relevance of thermal components in GRB spectra is discussed in the light of some of the models recently proposed for the interpretation of the spectral-energy correlations.

The last years have been an exciting period for the field of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) research. With recent CMB balloon-borne and ground-based experiments we are entering a new era of ’precision’ cosmology that enables us to use the CMB anisotropy measurements to constrain the cosmological parameters and test new theoretical scenarios.

We present an overview of our ongoing systematic search for wide (sub)stellar companions around the stars known to host rad-vel planets. By using a relatively large field of view and going very deep, our survey can find all directly detectable stellar and massive brown dwarf companions (m>40 MJup) within a 1000 AU orbit.

We investigate whether a simple cosmology can fit GRB results in both time dilation and Log N-Log P simultaneously. Simplifying assumptions include: all GRBs are spectrally identical to BATSE trigger 143, Ω = 1 universe, and no luminosity and number density evolution. Observational data used includes: the BATSE 3B peak brightness distribution (64-ms time scale), the Pioneer Venus Orbiter (PVO) ...

We demonstrate that nonlinear decay of obliquely propagating Langmuir waves into another Langmuir and Alfvén waves is possible in a one-dimensional, highly relativistic, streaming, pair plasma. Based on this we present a new mechanism of pulsar radio emission that involves development and quasilinear relaxation of two stream instability, induced scattering of generated Langmuir waves by plasma ...
