The Management of Crown Fracture of Immature Teeth by MTA and Calcium Hydroxide: Case Reports
نویسنده
چکیده
In recent times, interest has centred on the use of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), due to its wide array of application in the treatment of complications following dental trauma. These conditions include teeth with exposed pulp, root fracture and pulp necrosis located in the coronal part of the pulp [24-26]. It is the material of choice as an apical plug during the short-term (one-visit) apexification techniques, and adjuvant, placed as a cervical plug in the regenerative endodontic treatment (RET) based on revascularisations techniques [15]. Hydration of MTA powder results in a colloidal gel composed of calcium oxide crystals in an amorphous structure [27]. The use of MTA in endodontics is due to the beneficial properties of this material like ease of manipulation and placement [28]. It neither gets resorbed, nor weakens the root canal dentinal structures [29]. It is insensitive to moisture and blood [16,30]. It shows antimicrobial properties, biocompatibility, low shrinkage and the capacity to induce cementum and periodontal ligament (PDL) formation [14,24,31,32]. During setting time, the pH is between 10.2 and 12.5, favouring hard tissue induction and creating a bacteria-tight seal [14,20,33,34].

Management of permanent incisors with complicated crown fracture by MTA pulpotoy
Introduction: Complicated crown fractures involve enamel, dentin, and pulp and occur in 0.9 to l3% of all dental injuries. If left untreated, will always result in pulp necrosis but, if it handled correctly, prognosis of the pulp following a traumatic crown fracture can be favorable. Introduction: Horizontal root fracture (HRF) generally has a good prognosis of healing at fracture line after repositioning and flexible splinting. However, various factors such as delayed referral may unfavorably influence close reduction of firmly displaced coronal fragments and the long-term prognosis of healing at fracture line. Case 1: A 25-year-old woman with HRF in her maxillary central ...

This report describes the case of an 8-year-old boy that was referred to endodontic and orthodontic treatment after suffering an injury that led to intrusion of the maxillary right permanent central incisor, palatal displacement of the upper right lateral incisor, and root fracture of both central incisors. Both injured teeth were immature and had open apices. The intruded tooth was repositione...

Completion of root development takes around 3 years after eruption of permanent teeth. Any pulpal injury in this period can lead to necrosis of pulp. Pulp necrosis of immature permanent teeth may impair root development and apical closure of root canals. Management of immature non vital teeth is very challenging for a clinician because teeth may have wide open apex and thin root canal walls tha...

Management of fracture dimmature teeth presents a special challenge to dentists. Apexification, Apexogenosis or Regeneration are the only options for conserving such tooth. Traditional apexification with calcium hydroxide is associated with certain difficulties, like longer treatment time, risk of tooth fracture and incomplete calcification of apical bridge. Treatment outcome of regenerations a...
