ITU Tailless UAV Design
نویسندگان
چکیده
Nowadays, mini Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are utilized in a wide range of reconnaissance and surveillance missions with an ever increasing need for endurance and range. Thus, a slight improvement on these two primary performance parameters is considered as a competitive advantage. In this work, a multifunctional tailless UAV concept and its design process is presented. In comparison to existing conventional UAV designs, the concept is shown to have superior aerodynamic and flight performance characteristics. In addition the detachable wing and body concept provides the much needed flexibility and multi-functionality for using the UAV for a range of operation concepts, in which each concept requires different payloads of distinct weight and size. Hybrid Propulsion System Design of a VTOL Tailsitter UAV
Tailsitter UAVs with their combined vertical take off and landing (VTOL) and fixed-wing aircraft with full flightspeed regime capability provides a distinct alternative to rotary-wing and ducted fan UAVs (OAVs). ITU-BYU Tailsitter concept aims to obtain the energy efficient regimes across the VTOL and the cruising flight regimes. This paper describes the hybrid propulsion system design approach...
متن کاملDesign Methodology of a Hybrid Propulsion Driven Electric Powered Miniature Tailsitter Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
Contrary to the manned tailsitter aircraft concepts, which have been shelved and forgotten after mid 1960’s, the unmanned versions of these concepts have become popular. Since, tailsitter type UAVs combine both vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) operation and relatively high speed cruise flight capabilities which provide manifest advantages over the other VTOL aircraft concepts, including heli...
متن کاملModel Predictive Controller Design for a Novel Moving Mass Controlled Bi-rotor UAV
This paper presents design and implementation of Model Based Predictive Controller (MPC) for a novel Bi-Rotor Moving Mass Controlled (MMC) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). Due to the strict constrained control inputs in this type of UAV, it is necessary to take into account the constrained controller design and un-constrained control methods are not applicable. MPC controller which is designed ba...
