Integrating Dynamic Spatial Models with Discrete Event Simulation
نویسنده
چکیده
Dynamic spatial modeling addresses computational aspects of space-time process modeling. The types of processes it is meant to deal with are commonly found in Earth and biological sciences, such as hydrology and ecology. Geographical information systems (GIS) are a popular tool for modeling these application areas. A GIS provides spatial data structures, query capability and functions to manipulate spatially referenced information. However these tools currently lack any capability to perform dynamic modeling. This paper describes a prototype for a spatial modeling component that may be incorported in GIS and computer simulation software. The component features a language and spatial operators suited to discrete-time analysis. In particular it describes control constructs to analyse local spatial neighborhoods. A model for hydrological surface water runoff is described as an example application.

Modeling and Evaluation of Stochastic Discrete-Event Systems with RayLang Formalism
In recent years, formal methods have been used as an important tool for performance evaluation and verification of a wide range of systems. In the view points of engineers and practitioners, however, there are still some major difficulties in using formal methods. In this paper, we introduce a new formal modeling language to fill the gaps between object-oriented programming languages (OOPLs) us...

متن کاملDiscrete Element Modeling of Dynamic Compaction with Different Tamping Condition
Dynamic Compaction (DC) is a common deep compaction method that is usually used for densification of coarse-grained soils. Although traditional continuum-based models such as the Finite Element Method can be successfully applied for assessment of stress distributions or deformations induced by DC, they are typically not adequate for capturing the grain scale mechanisms of soil behavior under im...
متن کاملA Hybrid Approach to Manufacturing Enterprise Simulation
Manufacturing enterprise decisions can be classified into four groups: business decisions, design decisions, engineering decisions, and production decisions. Numerous physical and software simulation techniques have been used to evaluate specific decisions by predicting their impact on the system as measured by one or more performance measures. In this paper, we focus on production decisions, w...
متن کاملOptimal design of supply chain network under uncertainty environment using hybrid analytical and simulation modeling approach
Models that aim to optimize the design of supply chain networks have gained more interest in the supply chain literature. Mixed-integer linear programming and discrete-event simulation are widely used for such an optimization problem. We present a hybrid approach to support decisions for supply chain network design using a combination of analytical and discrete-event simulation models. The prop...
