چکیده

In Lecture 2 we have learned about matched filtering. We made a number of hypotheses, including that the ‘signal’ is constant, even if it is possibly corrupted by noise. Two questions arise: how do we estimate the signal from noisy examples? (Simple answer: average the examples). What do we do when the signal is not constant? The answer to this second question is more complicated and depends on the source of variability. There are many reasons why the signal may not be constant:

Enhancement of Noise Performance in Digital Receivers by Over Sampling the Received Signal

In wireless channel the noise has a zero mean. This channel property can be used in the enhancement of the noise performance in the digital receivers by oversampling the received signal and calculating the decision variable based on the time average of more than one sample of the received signal. The averaging process will reduce the effect of the noise in the decision variable that will approa...

Comprehensive Electromechanical Analysis of MEMS Variable Gap Capacitors

This paper presents a comprehensive case study on electro-mechanical analysis of MEMS[1] variable capacitors. Using the fundamental mechanical and electrical equations, static and dynamic behaviors of the device are studied. The analysis is done for three different modes, namely: dc (static mode), small signal ac and large signal regime. A complete set of equations defining dynamic behavior of ...

Engineering EE 194 – Network Information Theory Prof . Mai Vu Lecture 2 : Channel Capacity 1 Typicality and Joint Typicality

The Asymptotic Equipartition Property (AEP) in information theory is the analog of the Law of Large Numbers in probability theory. Assume that the binary random variable X has a probability mass function defined by p(1) = 2/3, and p(0) = 1/3, where X1,X2,...,Xn are i.i.d. random variables according to p(x), and we want to observe a realization of the sequenceX1,X2,...,Xn, where n −→ ∞. We will ...

Variable Speed Wind Turbine DFIG Back to Back Converters Open-Circuit Fault Diagnosis by Using of Combiniation Signal-Based and Model-Based Methodes

Condition monitoring (CM) and Fault Detection (FD) of wind turbine lead to increase in reliability and availability of turbine. IGBT open circuit of wind turbine converter will bring about depletion in output current of converter and as a result, reduction in production of wind turbine power. In this research, back to back converter IGBT open - gate fault for wind turbine based on DFIG is detec...

Lecture 5 — September 8 , 2016

1 Overview In the last lecture we took a more in depth look at Chernoff Bounds and introduced subgaussian and subexponential variables. In this lecture we will continue talking about subgaussian variables and related random variables – subexponential and subgamma, and finally we will give a proof of famous Johnson-Lindenstrauss lemma using property of subgaussian/subgamma variables. Definition ...
