چکیده

Perched on a granite rock, the Castle of Haut-Andlau is surrounded by forests and ditches which make its access difficult. Only after the first crumbling, the Lord of Andlau worried about its durability and conservation. Since only poor documentation about the castle exists, a complete surveying of the castle was demanded. The problematic became a true challenge, regarding the constraints implied on the one hand by the steep and abrupt terrain surrounding the castle and on the other hand by the dense and broadening vegetation in the immediate vicinity of the castle. In this context, two universities shared their experiences and instruments: the Institute of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (Universität Karlsruhe (TH), Germany) and the MAP-PAGE team (INSA de Strasbourg, France). It became rapidly obvious that a unique technique would not overcome the vegetation and relief obstacles. That’s why several recording techniques have been investigated. A quality assessment lead to the analysis of the models derived from each technique and to a crucial experience for further campaigns. Therefore, recommendations for an efficient acquisition planning and data processing are gathered. These solutions will help the castle owner to establish the framework of restoration tasks, by showing the destroyed historical structures. Moreover, they will help us to convince the department council to extend these first conclusions to the documentation of numerous other castles of the same type and therefore to insure the future of the Alsatian medieval patrimony.

Comparison Methods of Terrestrial Laser Scanning, Photogrammetry and Tacheometry Data for Recording of Cultural Heritage Buildings

Cultural heritage documentation projects very often combine different acquisition methods as tacheometry, photogrammetry and terrestrial laser scanning. In this paper we compare these three methods for recording of heritage buildings. Our test object is the medieval castle of Haut-Andlau (Alsace, France), documented in 2006-2008. This castle is of particular interest for our investigations sinc...

Castle Landenberg

In this paper we demonstrate the workflow of 3D modelling and photorealistic texture mapping based on close range imagery acquired with a mini-UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and in terrestrial mode. For generation of a highly accurate 3D model, a combined photogrammetric processing of these images was required. The conducted workflow consists of the following steps: project planning, flight plan...

3d Modelling of Topographic Objects by Fusing 2d Maps and Lidar Data

In the past few years the number of applications that use 3D information of topographical objects increased rapidly. With the growing demand for 3D topographic data the need for automated 3D data acquisition also grows. Height information can be extracted from airborne or terrestrial acquisition methods, but can also be modelled as implicit semantic information. Adding height information to exi...

Using the Finite Element Analysis Method to Study the 3-point Bending Test for the Characterization of the Adherence

An elastic finite element analysis was conducted to evaluate the stress distribution in the initiation zone of the adhesive rupture during the 3-point bending test. This test is used to measure the adherence between a polyepoxy adhesive and aluminum alloy with different surface treatments. The purpose is to compare, in the high stress concentration areas, the stress fields calculated using fini...
