چکیده

pressure in congestive heart failure in infancy. A retrospective study was made of the mean right atrial pressure in 131 infants with congenital heart disease. 56 are considered to have been in congestive heart failure at the time of cardiac catheterization, and 75 patients are considered not to have been so. The mean value for mean right atrial pressure was 7-7 mm. in the group who were in heart failure compared with 3 * 5 mm. in the group not in heart failure.

High-Output Heart Failure Due to an Iliac Arterio-Venous Fistula in Mycotic Aneurysm

Herein, we report a patient with arterio-venous fistula secondary to mycotic aneurysm, causing high output heart failure. The patient had one-year history of refractory heart failure and recurrent pulmonary edema. This presentation is a good example of curative surgically treatable cause of high-output congestive heart failure.Iran J Med Sci 2005; 30(1): 41-44. Keywords ● Arterio-venous fistula...

The effects of intravenous hexamethonium on venous pressure of normotensive and hypertensive patients with and without congestive heart failure.

The response of atrial pressure, venous pressure, pulse and respiratory rates to intravenous hexamethonium in 38 selected patients was studied. The drug seemed more effective where vascular tone was greater. Increased venous tone was indicated in congestive heart failure. The possible useful role of intravenous hexamethonium as an adjunct in the treatment of congestive heart failure was conclud...

نوزاد متولد شده با مالفورماسیون مادرزادی شریانی- وریدی مغزی و نارسایی احتقاقی قلبی: گزارش موردی

Background: Cerebral arteriovenous malformations are rare congenital anomalies presenting as different symptoms depending on their size and the age of patient. Congestive heart failure is a rare condition in neonatal period and is most common due to structural heart defects, but rarely may be a result of peripheral shunts such as cerebral arteriovenous malformation. Case presentation: A term...

Haemodynamic, neuroendocrine and metabolic correlates of circulating cytokine concentrations in congestive heart failure.

OBJECTIVES Increased activity of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the circulation has been observed in many, though not all, patients with congestive heart failure. To identify the predictors of cytokine activation in congestive heart failure, we assessed the relationship of peripheral and hepatic venous cytokines to central haemodynamics, neuroendocrine status and intermediary metabolism in patie...

The effects of sublingually administered nitroglycerin on forearm vascular resistance in patients with heart failure and in normal subjects.

This study examined the effects of sublingually administered nitroglycerin on forearm resistance vessels in normal subjects (n = 9) and in patients with congestive heart failure (n = 8). Forearm blood flow was measured with a strain-gauge plethysmograph and forearm vascular resistance was calculated. To assess the magnitude of reflex forearm vasoconstriction triggered by decreased central venou...
