چکیده

New data from the cosmic ray experiment on the Voyager spacecraft confirms and extends earlier data from a similar experiment on the ISEE-3 spacecraft which indicates the possibility of the decay of certain K-capture isotopes during the interstellar propagation of galactic cosmic rays. These cosmic ray measurements, along with the cross section measurements, indicate that ∼ 25% of the K-capture isotopes 51Cr and 49V produced as secondaries have decayed at interstellar energy of ∼ 400 MeV/nuc. This suggests a possible interstellar energy gain ∼ 100 MeV/nuc out of the current interstellar energy ∼ 500 MeV/nuc. This measurement suggests that the study of the K-capture isotopes may now have reached a level that will soon provide definitive information on the amount of reacceleration that may occur during cosmic-ray propagation after an initial acceleration in the cosmic ray sources.

Detailed analysis of observed antiprotons in cosmic rays

In the present work, the origin of antiprotons observed in cosmic rays (above the atmosphere) is analyzed in details. We have considered the origin of the primaries, (which their interactions with the interstellar medium is one of the most important sources of antiprotons) is a supernova type II then used a diffusion model for their propagation. We have used the latest parameterization for anti...

Cosmic-Ray Spectra in Interstellar Space

At energies below ~300 MeV/nuc our knowledge of cosmic-ray spectra outside the heliosphere is obscured by the energy loss that cosmic rays experience during transport through the heliosphere into the inner solar system. This paper compares measurements of secondary electron-capture isotope abundances and cosmic-ray spectra from ACE with a simple model of interstellar propagation and solar modul...

Time Delays in Cosmic Ray Propagation

Cosmic Rays (CR) travel at speeds essentially indistinguishable from the speed of light. However whilst travelling through magnetic fields, both regular and turbulent, they are delayed behind the light since they are usually charged particles and their paths are not linear. Those delays can be so long that they are an impediment to correctly identifying sources which may be variable in time. Fu...

Letter to the Editor Diffuse galactic gamma rays, cosmic-ray nucleons and antiprotons

The excess of continuum γ-ray emission from the Galaxy above 1 GeV is an unsolved puzzle. It may indicate that the interstellar nucleon or electron spectra are harder than local direct measurements, as could be the case if a local source of cosmic rays were to dominate the nearby flux. It is however difficult to distinguish between the two cases. Cosmic-ray secondary antiprotons provide a way t...

Geomagnetic Field Eect over Azimuth Anisotropy of Cosmic Rays via Study of Primary Particles

Geomagnetic field is a one of the candidates for creation of anisotropy in azimuth distribution of extensive air showers over the entered cosmic rays to the atmosphere. Here we present the question: Is there any azimuth anisotropy flux in the upper level of the atmosphere due to the geomagnetic field over the entered cosmic-rays? The obtained answer is: yes. This investigation showed an agreeme...
